Blue-stocking Jemima Percy is too clever and too driven to be drawn into the life of a courtesan. Or is she?
Engaged in a secret search for lost treasure, she falls into the shadowy world of antiquity collectors. With a murderer hot on her heels, becoming the greatest treasure in a bored aristocrat’s exquisite collection may be her only hope of survival. Then one fateful Christmas, Jemima discovers a love that threatens her best laid plans.
This one was different from the others in the anthology. I liked that it surrounded a lost treasure, but it was a bit too fast paced for me. I liked how she made the best of what happened to her and so much stuff happened to her in a small amount of time. I would have liked a bit more about the treasure, but the ending was good especially when they realized her who each other was.
Jemima stayed strong through everything, but it also wore her down to where she was almost numb to her own feelings. I thought she would never be happy or find love after so many men dying or treating her badly.
Digby was a kind man. I wish there was more about him. It seemed he somewhat lived in the shadow of his brother. He was instantly drawn to her and was upset at not being able to do what his brother asked.
