Book Blogger Tag

Book Blogger Tag

It’s Random Friday and time for another tag! I found this one on Trice Read and thought it was a great way for you to get to know how I work.

Enjoy!

Where Do You Typically Write Your Blog Posts?

In my living room with fur babies running around me.

How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book Review?

Depends on the book. It can take anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour because I try to avoid spoilers and include what I love. Sometimes if the book wasn’t my favorite or the blurb is very short it takes me longer.

When Did You Start Your Book Blog?

It’s been two years now and I love it.

What’s The Worst Thing About Having A Book Blog In Your Opinion?

Falling into reader burn out. This is why I don’t post every day because I don’t want to get burned out and not be posting reviews.

What Is The Best Thing About Having A Book Blog In Your Opinion?

Helping authors get the word out about their books! Especially the new authors that are publishing their first book.

What Blog Post Have You Had The Most Fun Writing So Far?

I think my post about why I write reviews was the most fun.

What Is Your Favorite Type Of Blog Posts To Write?

I really love writing book reviews. I can share my love of a book and it helps me learn what I like and don’t like in books.

When Do You Typically Write?

In the afternoon most of the time.

How Do You Write YOur Book Reviews? With A Cup Of Coffee or Tea? With Netflix? Cuddled With YOur Fur Baby?

Usually cuddled with my fur baby next to me while the tv plays in the background.

When Do Write You Write Your Book Reviews? Right After Finishing The Book? Two Weeks After Finishing The Book?

I read at night most of the time so I write my review the next day. That’s enough time to think and not forget anything. If I read during the day then right after I finish.

How Often Do You Post?

I post three times a week. Usually, two are reviews, but sometimes all three are reviews.

Random Friday: Book Buy Habits Tag

*Book Buy Habits Tag

It’s Random Friday and today is the Book Buying Habits Tag! I found this at Life of a Female Bibliophile

Where do you buy your books from?

I get most of my books from Amazon because I have prime and get ebooks most of the time.

Do you ever pre-order books and if so, do you do this in-store or online?

I just recently started pre-ordering some books. When I do it is online.

On average, how many books do you buy a month?

Hmmmm. Depends on my budget, but usually 2-5. I only use gift cards so that I don’t go wild.

Do you use your local library?

I haven’t been to the library since in years. Last time I went I was at that odd stage of too old for the kids books, but too young to go upstairs to the other books.

If so, how many do you borrow at a time?

I did find my card recently and hooked it up to the OverDrive app, but haven’t borrowed any yet.

What’s your opinion on library books?

They are great money savers and perfect if you aren’t one that wants to hold onto books.

How do you feel about charity shop/second-hand books?

I wish we had one in my town! I would love to get books from them.

Do you keep your read and TBR pile together/on the same bookshelf or not?

Yes. I don’t have many TBR books so I can keep it straight what it is what.

Do you plan to read all the books you own?

Yes. It may take forever because I keep getting more.

What do you do with books that you own and that you’ll feel you’ll never read/enjoy?

I don’t have any like that. I’m very careful about getting books that I will read.

Have you ever donated books?

Most of my books that aren’t ebooks are signed copies so I haven’t donated any yet.

Do you feel like you buy too many books?

Never!

The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag

The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag

I found this tag on Between My Lines and it sounded like a lot of fun! It will also get us even more into the Christmas spirit. I have changed the wording around a bit to fit me.

What is your favorite Christmas scene in a book?

Tough one because I have read a lot of Christmas stories lately. I will say in A Scottish Lord for Christmas when Quinn’s gives Rowenna her gift is my favorite.

Do you have any Christmas book traditions?

I read as many Christmas themed Historical Romances as I can get my hands on leading up to Christmas.

Do you prefer to get presents of bookstore gift cards or books?

Gift cards! You may know who my favorite authors are, but not know what I already have by them. Even going on my TBR list on Goodreads to pick isn’t the best idea because there are so many and some are a higher priority than others to me.

Do you give books as presents?

Only if the person gives me a list of books they want or have been talking about certain ones a lot. It’s too risky to get the wrong book or something they have no interested in.

What bookish item is on your Christmas wishlist?

A new Kindle case! I got my Kindle earlier this year and still don’t have a proper case. I also have many bookish themed shirts on my list.

What 3 books would you love Santa to have in his sack for you?

256014773647139936983338

Fake Christmas tree or real Christmas tree?

We’ve always had a fake tree. Allergies, mess, and pets keep us fro ma real one. Plus the lights are already on it and we can set it up as early as we want.

What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

The wrapping and food! I love to wrap gifts and anything I can get my hands on. but I also love the food.

What Christmas book would you recommend?

All the Christmas at Castle Keyvnor books. They are amazing stories.

What dish on your Christmas menu are you most looking forward to?

The sauce! We are doing spaghetti and meatballs this year and I love my mom’s sauce with fried pepperoni in it.

When do you open your Christmas presents?

On Christmas Eve. We use to get up and do it on Christmas morning. Then we started opening one on Christmas Eve. Then we just decided to open them all on Christmas Eve since we didn’t have as many gifts as we got older.

What’s your favorite Christmas song?

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow by Randy Travis.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?

I always do, but it rarely happens.

The Book Blogger Test

Capture1

I’ve not had time to read the last two days so it’s another book tag. This time it’s The Book Blogger Test that I found on My Little Book Blog.

what are your top three book pet hates?

1. When a romance book has a risque cover and then you read it only to realize it is a 1 or 2 out of 5 on the heat level. It alienates readers from both sides because sweet readers won’t know it’s sweet so they don’t buy it and spicy readers who buy it will think it’s spicy.

2. Characters that hate each other one second then they are madly in love the next after something small happens. Yes, that something small can make a change in feelings, but you still need to build it up over time even if it’s a short amount of time, but not instantly.

3. Novella’s that don’t tie up loose ends or explain things fully. When there is something in a character’s backstory that is never fully explained or something happens and then forgotten about then it’s like a cliffhanger. If it will be explained in another book please let us know.

describe your perfect reading spot

I’m an in bed reader or an out in nature reader. So either a cozy bed, nice pjs, my fur babies, my tv in the background, and no loud noises. Or a nice comfy shady spot surrounded nature with no city noise.

tell us three book confessions

1. I still haven’t read Pride and Prejudices even though I have it as an ebook and have watched two film adaptions.

2. I have a massive TBR list of over 800 on Goodreads and don’t even own like 95% of them. I will read a book by a new to me author and then add all of their books to my TBR list, but rarely get around to buy them or forget I added them.

3.  I have been stuck read book 5 of the Outlander series for over a year. I took a break from it due to review requests at the time and haven’t picked it up since even when I have free time.

when was the last time you cried during a book?

A Scarlet Woman by Lorna Peel. There were many things in it that made me cry for different reasons and I loved it.

how many books are on your bedside table?

One and it’s The Fiery Cross book 5 of the Outlander series. It’s sitting there to remind me I haven’t finished it.

what is your favourite snack to eat while you’re reading?

I don’t eat while 99% of the time, but if I do eat then it’s usually some kind of chips.

name three books you would recommend to everyone

This is soooooo hard and I’m going to list series:

The Willow Creek series by Lily Graison

The Secrets and Scandal series by Darcy Burke

The Rookery Rogues series by Erica Monroe

show us a picture of your favorite bookshelf on your bookcase

No shelves! Just a stack of books on a cubbie.

write how much books mean to you in just three words

Hard one!!!

Escape for everything!

what is your biggest reading secret?

I love many types of heroes in romances, but unlike many, I don’t like the very alpha male type. The ones that like to be in charge at all times and don’t let up ever are a huge turn off for me.

That is the end of the tag! I’m not tagging anyone, but if you decided to do it let me know!

A to Z Bookish Survey Tag

A.png

It’s Random Friday and since I’m in the middle of reading Kissed at Christmas I decided to do another book tag. This time it is the A to Z Bookish Survey Tag. I discovered this tag on Brin’s Book Blog.

Author you’ve read the most books from:

Darcy Burke. I had to check Goodreads to be sure and it was a close call between her and two other authors.

Best Sequel Ever:

This is a hard one. Let’s go with The Misfortune of Lady Lucianna (The Undaunted Debutantes, #2) by Christina McKnight

Currently Reading:

Kissed at Christmas by Christina McKnight, Ava Stone, and Michelle Willingham

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Either 7UP or Mixed Berry Water. Depends on the time of day.

E-reader or Physical Book?

Physical books! Due to space and price, I have more ebooks and I do love my Kindle.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

Bran from The Untouchables series by Darcy Burke (I loved his quirks, his rule-breaking and how dedicated he was). He pulled me away from the charming bad boy Ethan in the Sins and Scandals series by Darcy Burke.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Forever Rose by Carmen Monica Oprea. It was not my typical read because it is a time travel book, but I loved it!!!!

Hidden Gem Book:

Gray Places by Julia Byrd It gave me chills and I loved it even with the romance not being front and center.

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

Discovering the many book groups on Facebook and starting my own blog. There are people like me and we totally understand each other. I was first encouraged to start my blog by readers and authors I know then to start writing my own book by them too.

Just Finished:

I just finished an ARC of A Talent for Temptation by Sabrina Jeffries. A quick amazing read.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m not a fan of erotica or time travel. I will read the odd one here or there, but I don’t like to books that the story almost never leaves the bedroom or books that spend a lot of time in the present day.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

So far

Drums of Autumn (Outlander #4) by Diana Gabaldon it is 880 pages according to Goodreads.

Major book hangover because of:

There are a few of them that have left me needing a break from them. Pretty much any of Darcy Burke’s books, Ava Stone’s books, Christina McKnight’s and Erica Monroe’s books. I can’t put them down until they are finished and they usually leave me needing to process something.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

Actual bookcases are zero. I have a set cubbies that are full of books and have books piled on top of them.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

A Dangerous Invitation (The Rookery Rogues #1) by Erica Monroe. It’s a favorite.

Preferred Place To Read:

In my bed or outside in the fall weather.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

“I fell in love with her by word alone. It wouldn’t matter if she were blind, deaf, bald, or broken, I would love her with all that I am.”

Lynn Winchester – The Gentleman’s Heart

Reading Regret:

Not reading the Outlander series earlier. I had stayed away from it because of the size, that it’s time travel, and not really a romance. I didn’t start reading them until after the show aired and I realized they were different from what I thought.

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):

There are a few, but my top one is The Grooms series by Rose Gordon. I have only Her Sudden Groom and loved Alex like crazy.

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:

  1. Scoundrel Ever After (Secrets & Scandals #6) by Darcy Burke

2. The Outlaw (Willow Creek #2) by Lily Graison

3.West of Forgotten by Lynda J. Cox

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Ava Stone she writes most of the books that give me chills and spook me.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

The next book in Darcy Burke’s League of Rogues series! I have been waiting for it like crazy.

Worst Bookish Habit:

Ruining the spines of my print books. I try so hard not to bend them back, but when you have small hands it happens. It shows my books are loved though.

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

Never Surrender to a Scoundrel by Lily Dalton

Your latest book purchase:

The Major’s Faux Fiancée (The Dukes of War #4) by Erica Ridley

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

West of Forgotten by Lynda J. Cox

That was so much fun! Let me know your thoughts below.
