What I’m Reading This Week: A Box Set and A Book with Highlanders

stencil-blog-post-feature-2

This week I’m reading My Highlander Husband by Nancy Pennick and you will see it’s review Friday during the blog tour for it! It’s set in one of my favorite time periods in the 1700’s and sounds like a lot will happen it.

I am also reading the Regency Ever After: Timeless Tales and Fables II box set that is by some authors I know and love and a couple of new to me authors. I am going to do one big post with all the reviews probably on the 7th.

For this week’s Review Wednesday I’m not sure what it will be so it will be a surprise.

stencil-blog-post-feature-2

This week I will be reading Windswept by Sabrina Jeffries. I am very excited for this one because I love her books and that this one takes place in Wales. I loved Stormswept and I know those characters will be making an appearance in this one. Be sure to look for the review on Wednesday.

Also on Friday I am part of a blog tour for Christina McKnight’s The Mistress Enchants Her Marquis which I reviewed last week and my post will have an interview with Christina. This is my first interview post and I hope you enjoy it.

This week for book review Wednesday I am reading To Tame a Wild Lady by Ashlyn Macnamara which is book two in her Duke-Defying Daughters series. I have book one but I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. So I’m going to try and read it tonight, but If I can’t it will be up with the next two weeks.

I also will be reading Dealing With The Viscount by Clair Brett for the release tour Friday! This will be my first book by Clair Brett so I’m excited to read it!

What I’m Reading This Week

This week I am reading The Duelist’s Seduction by Lauren Smith! I’m reading it before the release of The Rakehell’s Seduction in a couple of weeks which I’m also excited for too. The first couple of sentences in the blurb instantly got my attention and made me want to read it because it sounds very different and the kind of story I will love.

Friday I might have another book review up, but don’t know which book yet so keep on the lookout for it.

Back To The Normal Routine

stencil-blog-post-feature-1

I am back to my normal routine and schedule with the blog after a month of reviews. I have a lighter schedule this month with books that need to be reviewed so there will be more writing updates and other posts this month so I thought I would start off with giving some updates!

Update #1 My writing!

I didn’t win at NaNoWriMo which I wasn’t aiming for and I came very close to hitting my own goal, but holiday stuff got in the way. I have been applying myself to my writing since then and I’m getting there a couple of thousand words every time I sit down and write. My brother has become the person I bounce things off of when trying to figure something out and if it makes since. His science knowledge comes in handy with some details like how I will kill someone and if it’s possible.

I somewhat know how I’m going to end it and some of the in between, but I still have to fill in some places. My characters are still leading on where they want things to go and how they will act. My Heroine surprised me by being very bold in a scene, but in a good way.

From acclaimed author Elizabeth Essex comes an irresistible prequel novella introducing the Highland Brides, a quartet of bold, brilliant lasses determined to make their own happily ever afters.

Set a thief…Rory Cathcart’s appreciation of the exquisite makes him the perfect man to expose forgeries and root out fraud in London’s tempestuous art world. But when his latest investigation into forged paintings puts him squarely in Mignon du Blois’ shaky sights, he finds himself deep in trouble, and captured by something more powerful than mere beauty.

To catch a thief…The moment Mignon stops a rakish thief from making off with one of her father’s brilliant forgeries, she knows she’s found the perfect man to help her steal back a priceless statue, and save her family from unspeakable scandal. She has no intention of falling for Rory’s Caledonian charms, nor his seductive Scottish persuasions. From the drawing rooms of the ton to the auction rooms of the art world, the pair embark on a madcap adventure to save them both from ruin. But will the love they uncover be most priceless treasure of all?

My Review

This is an irresistible read. I was determined to read it all even when I realized it was 1am. I  have never read a book before like this one with everything surrounding art and I loved that. It’s a little slow-paced for a lot of the book, but once you get to the second half the time flys with the plot to steal the statue. Trickery and adventure will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Mignon is a smart and sweet girl. She has tried to get her father to see that his forgeries put them at risk, but she will do anything to protect him. She is just someone you love instantly with how she does things and says them.

Rory is smart and has an interesting way of doing things. His job is to investigate forgeries, but he has a very different way of doing it that involves adventure. I loved him from the start.

Mignon’s father is also an interesting person. You will love the parts with Rory and his friends talking because you can imagine their accents with the way they are written. There are also scenes involving a closet that are fun.

Hiding from a dangerous man, Tess Crawford thought The Wiggons’ School for Elegant Young Ladies would be the perfect place to disappear. Or it would be if the local villagers weren’t on edge because of the vampire in their midst, at least they think he’s a vampire. The fascination with the reclusive viscount disrupts the girls’ studies and Tess fights an unending battle to convince her students that monsters do not exist.

Vincent Latimer, Viscount Atwood, is not a vampire, no matter what the villagers believe. He wishes the book, Wake Not the Dead, had never been written. There is a very good reason he visits his wife’s grave at night, and it has nothing to do with trying to raise her from the dead.

When a storm thrusts Tess into Vincent’s path and destroys the school, both of their pasts collide.

My Review

This one will keep you on the edge of your seat! I never knew what was going to happen next or how it was going to end. This one is great to read on a rainy night. I never expected them to be connected the way they were or that the girls would play a part in things like they did.

Tess is hiding for a very good reason. The man she is hiding from will kill her once he gets what he wants and he will do anything to get it. She is a strong woman that will do anything to protect the girls she teaches even if it means sacrificing her heart and running again. I loved how she didn’t believe any of the rumors and actually fought them.

Vincent is plagued by rumors that he’s a vampire because he visits his wife’s grave every night at midnight. He has a very good reason for why he isn’t seen out during the day. I expected him to be cold, but he wasn’t most of the time. The way his wife died was tragic and he wants revenge. I loved how he surprised himself by inviting the girls there and becoming protective of them.

I absolutely loved his staff especially Wesley and loved all the girls.

What I’m Currently Reading: How To Kiss A Rogue by Amanda Mariel

31835162

I have been waiting for this book since reading A Kiss At Christmastide by Christina McKnight (click the link for my review)! After meeting the heroine of this one in A Kiss At Christmastide I can’t wait to see how she changes because in that book she was the character that caused problems and everyone wanted to hate, but I saw hope for her and can’t wait to see what happens.
The cover is gorgeous especially that dress! This will be this week’s Book Review Wednesday.

Bonus Writing Update

After a busy few weeks of reading, I am back to writing. I have new headphones (Claire the cat got ahold of my last ones) so I can listen to music again and write.

A busy week of reading!

I have been reading like crazy this week and will be next week because so many books I’ve been waiting for released. Tomorrow I will have a review for Vexed (The Haunting of Castle Keyvnor, #1) by Erica Ridley, Ava Stone, and Elizabeth Essex. I have been looking forward to this book for awhile and I am loving it. I’ve read the first two stories and have already gotten the chills and can’t wait to see what the last one has in store.

After I read this I will be reading Bedeviled (The Haunting of Castle Keyvnor Book 2) and Mystified (The Haunting of Castle Keyvnor Book 3) along with the next story in A Very Wicked Christmas and then I will be reading  The Ice Duchess: Scandalous Regency Widows, Book 2 by Amy Rose Bennett and its review will be up on Friday!

So many book and only so much time to read!
