There comes a time in a lady’s life when she needs to take matters into her own hands…
A Scheming Minx
Emily Goodnight, a curiously smart bluestocking – who cannot see a thing without her blasted spectacles – is raising the art of meddling to new heights. Why leave her future in the hands of fate when she’s perfectly capable of managing it herself?
An Apathetic Rake
The Earl of Blakely, London’s most unattainable bachelor, finds Miss Goodnight’s schemes nearly as intriguing as the curves hidden beneath her frumpy gowns. Secure in his independence, he’s focussed on one thing only: evading this father’s manipulating ways. In doing so, ironically, he fails to evade the mischief of Emily’s managing ploys.
Hell’s Bell Indeed
What with all the cheating at parlor games, trysts in dark closets, and nighttime flights to Gretna Green, complications arise. Because fate has limits. And when it comes to love and the secrets of the past, there’s only so much twisting one English Miss can get away with…

Hell’s Bell is the third book in the Devil’s Debutantes Series but can also be read as a standalone novel.

My Review

You will need a fan and a cold drink with these two! The heat and tension between them leaps off the pages from the start and continues to build and explode multiple times. Fate brought them together by throwing a wrench into her plans. But they were made for each other. I never knew what they were going to get up to between experiments and the past coming up. They learned about themselves and each other as they fell deeper in love. I did not see the truth of his father’s plans coming or anything that followed. His father was a surprise with how he reacted to things. I was even holding my breath at one time near the end. The meaning behind their rings pulls at my heart. I can’t wait for the next book!

Emily is not afraid of anything and curiosity gets the best her at all most every turn. I loved her from the moment she was in the library and saw him. She noticed things that many wouldn’t and wanted to help everyone. Her meddling was always done with the best of intentions to the point she forgot about her self when it came to helping other.

Marcus has let hate and the unknown rule him for too long. He could make his own way in the world, but he needed to know the truth and listen to his heart. I have the images of him leaning against something and winking burned into my mind. All I can think of is a tall drink of water to describe him. He couldn’t hide his feelings and would protect her forever.

The chapter names shouldn’t be missed either.

Will the bonds of love prove stronger than a man back from the dead and bent on revenge?

Miles Lawrence Hawkins, the fifth Earl of Archewyne, is determined to retire from life as a king’s man. Working clandestine cases for the Crown might be in his blood, but keeping his family safe is a more paramount concern. When he and his wife are kidnapped, the chances of escaping slip away, especially when the man behind the insane plan is his brother, Nigel, who has been assumed dead for years.

A mysterious note arrives following the unexpected death of her father blaming her husband for that event, and the Countess of Archewyne wonders what game is afoot. Doubts and fears add to growing ennui when Emmaline lands in a world of pain and confusion. A masked captor makes hideous demands unless she and the earl provide classified information. Through it all, she clings to her love for her husband while biding her time.

Physical and emotional torture continues until the reason is finally revealed—to lure the Duke of Rathesborne into the web to answer for his alleged crimes against Nigel. As their world tilts on the whim of a mad man, they both battle to survive. Nothing short of a miracle can put their lives back together again or repair the damage gained in captivity, but fighting for the future is well worth any cost.

Trigger Warning: Some of the content found in this book may be triggering and/or sensitive. Physical and mental abuse, sexual violence, sexual assault and attempted rape/abuse may be some of the topics mentioned within the pages and might illicit a strong or potentially harmful emotional response.

My Review

Sandra does it again with another breathtaking adventure and story of love beating the odds. The emotions hit you from page drawing you into the story and not letting go. I was so worried about her and Miles because of that note that I didn’t see their kidnapping coming until it happened. The whole time they are held captive was another emotional rollercoaster. Between them willing to die for each other, knowing the secrets, and the torture they were going through I was holding my breath at every turn. I was really afraid of what would happen during another one of Sandra’s amazing fight scenes. So much going on and the details that keep you on the edge until the end. Nigel was truly evil and crazy and he may be the villain to top all villains. When it came to the end there were still many emotions. I was sad, relieved, happy, and amused with how their lives were going to change and that his decision was made for him.

Emmaline is in a bad place in her mind because of everything that has happened. I was hurting for her as she was going through everything from the start and cheering her on. She continues to be a favorite with how she’s strong, but also still a human and not immune to things. When that spark returned to her I wanted to jump up and down. Especially when she put on a show.

Miles is still trapped in that mindset of their work puts them in danger and afraid he will lose his wife. I love that his humor still comes through no matter what and that he doesn’t give up. He also was going through his own emotions because of everything, but his love for her would not let him give up. I feared he would have to make a decision he shouldn’t, but it all worked out.

I wanted to help Peter so much and loved seeing Jonathon again.

I agree with the trigger warning of this book. It is a pretty intense book and the emotions and many of the scenes could be triggering to some readers. To give you an idea of how intense scenes are I would say its up near Outlander level. Not as graphic, but the emotions are there and details are still intense.

My Review

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤ Spice Level: 💋💋

Fate brought them together not just because a young lady needed saving, but because they needed each other. Every page turn brought something new to their romance and the story. There was a spark between them from the moment they met and it started their adventure. I could not put it down from the moment I picked it up. There were twists at every turn that I didn’t see coming and had me gasping and holding my breath at times. They were truly meant for each other and everyone could see it just by looking at them. The ending to everything was perfect. This was my first time reading a book by Bree Wolf and I can’t wait to read more and get to know characters.

Violet is driven by the need to rescue this girl and give her the chance to make her own choices. I loved her right away because she ran her life and was pretty much equal to the men around her. She had a large family behind her that supported her no matter what. She could use a dagger too and wasn’t afraid to use it or do what needed to be done to save her love.

Oliver seeks something more in life but doesn’t know what it is until he meets her. He was a thousand times more than what he father saw him has. My heart broke for him every time his father spoke, but he found the family he deserved. I loved that he didn’t hold back his emotions and would do anything to help others. He found what he needed in the end.

Giveaway question: Have you ever ended up somewhere by accident?

Excerpt:

Coming to stand beside her father, Violette could feel the stranger’s gaze on her, and she could not help but glance at him out of the corner of her eye. He had thick auburn hair, some strands dark, almost black, while others seemed to gleam in a dark red in the early morning sun. His pale blue eyes held curiosity and a sense for adventure. He stood tall, shoulders squared, and chin raised, meeting her father’s threatening gaze unflinchingly as he answered his questions with a strong voice. Still, there was a slight tremble in the way he held his hands linked behind his back, like a fish out of its element, nervous about what to expect.

“I ask you again, sir,” her father repeated, his dark eyes narrowing as he fixed the stranger with a sharp gaze, “what is your name as well as your purpose upon this ship?”

The stranger inhaled a slow breath, and his eyes flitted to Violette’s…as though she was his confidante and he needed her to reassure him. Strangely enough, Violette could not help but feel touched by this measure of unexpected trust.

“I’d appreciate it,” her father’s sharp voice cut through the moment of silence, “if you could refrain from staring at my daughter.”

Instantly, the stranger’s head snapped around to face the angry captain. “Your daughter?” he echoed, a touch of relief in his voice before his gaze met Violette’s once more.

Drawing in a slow breath, Violette tried to hide the unexpected shiver that danced up and down her spine at the intense look in the stranger’s eyes. Why did he look relieved? After all, he had no claim on her. They had not even met before today.

As suspicions rose in her mind, her eyes narrowed. What were his intentions? Was he an agent of the British crown?

“Speak!” Like a whiplash, her father’s voice cut through the air, the expression dangerously calm as he stared at the stranger.

To the man’s credit, he did not flinch. Instead, his gaze drifted to Violette one last time before he nodded. “As you wish,” he said, his voice even. Still, Violette thought to detect a hint of apprehension. “I’m Oliver Cornell, Earl of Cullingwood, and my purpose on this ship is…none. It was an accident.”

Although her father’s face remained mostly unreadable, his eyes narrowed. “An accident? Explain.”

Clearing his throat, Lord Cullingwood averted his gaze momentarily as though ashamed of what he was about to divulge. “Quite frankly, I spent the night in a tavern by the docks and…somehow found my way onto this ship. I do not recall much else until I woke up when we were already under way.”

Amused chuckles rose from the men of both crews as they observed the scene with interest.

“I see,” her father mumbled. Then he lifted his gaze and allowed it to sweep over the ship’s deck before turning to Henri by his side. “Bind his hands. Then take him to the Chevalier Noir,” he ordered before he turned to the rest of his crew standing guard around the sailors of the merchant vessel. “Lock them in the storage rooms below and then ready the ship. We’ll head back to France as soon as possible.”

The stillness on deck vanished as the prisoners were escorted below, loud footsteps and harsh curses echoing to Violette’s ears as she stood and watched her cousin tie Lord Cullingwood’s hands.

An English lord, she mused. He would have been the kind of man she would have been acquainted with had she stayed in her old life, would he not? Would he be able to tell her something about–?

No! Inhaling a deep breath, Violette pushed that thought away. After all, she could not believe anything he might say. He was English.

Elisabeth “Betsey” Atwater had plans as big as the Montana Sky. Marry the boy she’s loved since the day they met and become a famous singer. Getting Aaron Hilam to notice her took years of patience and when he did, life was so perfect she forgot all about singing. But dreams of spending her life with him were shattered when he left town and said he was never coming back. Her heart was broken beyond repair until she realized Aaron had left behind a piece of himself she could hold on to forever.

Aaron Hilam’s growing feelings for his best friend’s little sister spooked him more than anything ever had. He’d spent the past twelve years trying to avoid her but now that she was full grown and the prettiest girl in all of Willow Creek, he had a hard time ignoring her, especially when those kisses she gave him led to things her brother would probably kill him for if he knew. When an argument at home has him mad at the world, he leaves town vowing to never come back but like most things in his life, trouble is never far behind him. When he returns home he has a lot of broken hearts to mend, one in particular.

When Betsey spots Aaron riding into town, she’s heartsick when she sees he’s not alone. But her despair is short-lived when she meets a man who offers her a way past the heartache and a path straight to the other big dream she’s always yearned for. All she has to do is give up everything she’s ever held dear, and that includes Aaron Hilam.

My Review

It almost pains me to say this, but Aaron may be my favorite in Willow Creek! I have been wanting a story like this and Lily delivered it. I couldn’t put it down from page one with her brother doing what any brother would do. There is so much to their story that it pulls at your heart and waiting for something to keep them apart. I loved seeing their relationship build again and so many scenes were heart touching. I knew there was going to be trouble with the guy offering what she wanted but never saw that kind of trouble coming. I was holding my breath after that afraid that something else would happen. There is so much in the book that is amazing and I don’t want to giveaway. I loved the hint for the next book and can’t wait for it. This is one written so well that you can picture everything like a movie.

Betsey is a strong woman to do things on her own and work where she works. She wasn’t so stubborn that she wouldn’t listen even if it took a bit to get her to listen. I loved that she didn’t hide from the town and felt for her with what she had to agree to when protecting those she loved.

Aaron knew he made mistakes and wanted to make things right, but didn’t know everything. He had my heart from the start because he owned up to things and clearly loved her. I felt for him everytime something happened and he made my heart ache in many scenes.

USA Today bestselling author Christi Caldwell pits a fiercely independent beauty against a devilish investigator.

Set apart by her ethereal beauty and fearless demeanor, Ophelia Killoran has always been a mystery to those around her—and a woman they underestimated. No one would guess that she spends her nights protecting the street urchins of St. Giles. Ophelia knows what horrors these children face. As a young girl, she faced those horrors herself, and she would have died…if not for the orphan boy who saved her life.

A notorious investigator, Connor Steele never expected to encounter Ophelia Killoran on his latest case. It has been years since he sacrificed himself for her. Now, she hires orphans from the street to work in her brother’s gaming hell. But where does she find the children…and what are her intentions?

Ophelia and Connor are at odds. After all, Connor now serves the nobility, and that is a class of people Ophelia knows firsthand not to trust. But if they can set aside their misgivings and work together, they may discover that their purposes—and their hearts—are perfectly aligned.

My Review

I held my breath, I cried, I cheered, and I screamed throughout this story and loved every bit of it! You will need your tissues and if like me a fur baby nearby with all the intense emotions in this story. I was hooked from the start and every page pulled me deeper. Their story is such a powerful one with so many things against them, but love wins over some of the worst things out there. I loved that they always had a connection even though they didn’t see eye to eye. The investigation of his took a turn I did not see coming and there were more twists and turns I didn’t see coming at all. There were characters that I was set on loving and disliking that true colors came to light and changed my opinions of them so much. I was completely shocked by what happened near the end and wanted to scream, but absolutely loved the twist of how that turned out. I was left with serious book hangover and wanting more.

Ophelia is not a jewel she is an angel that does what she must to save the children on the streets. She is one of the few heroines to pull at my heart more than the hero. I cried and held my breath with the flashes of her memories and why she saved kids the way she did. Even with her tough front, she put out there I loved her right away because she would do anything for others.

Connor never let go of his roots and helped those that needed. His full story broke my heart, but he pushed forward with his mission and made a difference. He won me over from the start with how he sacrificed himself and how he saw others. I cried from him when his father did what he did and hoped it would turn out for the better. He was amazing and what she needed as much as he needed her.

After a failed abduction attempt, Lady Rachel is sent into hiding on her uncle’s estate near the sleepy village of Rockcliffe on the shores of Scotland. As she struggles to cope with the nightmares of her past, she unwittingly stumbles into even greater danger than she left behind. And this time, Shadow isn’t around to save her.

Luke Beckett, the Marquess of Downshire, was content running his stud farm in solitude, far from the scheming of the devious women of Society. That is, until his neighbor’s infuriatingly contrary niece rides into his life. Hiding behind the guise of a common horse trainer, he begins to form a peculiar friendship with Lady Rachel, without the constraints of his title. However, the longer the ruse continues, the more Luke realizes there is much more at stake than just their friendship.

With the looming threat of a French invasion, Luke and Rachel must work together to stop the tangled web of treachery before it is too late. When the truth is finally revealed, will they have the strength to trust each other with their hearts, or will the fear of rejection destroy their relationship before it has a chance to begin?

My Review

Oh, what a tangled mess leaving out a bit of information can become. With every book in this series, its get better and better. Laura just gives you more characters to love and nail-biting adventure that brings the spies together again. I couldn’t put it down from the moment Rachel started talking on the way to her uncle’s home. I knew it was going to be fun and a wild adventure. Their first meeting is one of the best I have seen and makes it clear they are going to be put through it all. I loved the twist on his ruse with how many people were involved and why. As with the other books, you will not see anything coming and will find yourself cheering, laughing, and crying throughout the story. Many answers are in this book, but just as many new questions to keep you asking for more.

Rachel definitely has been through it all, but it hasn’t killed her heart of gold. She is a woman that makes her own choices and is not your typical Lady on the ton. I was excited to see her get her own story and get to know her more. I loved that she wanted to help everyone, but wouldn’t hesitate to lay into them as needed. She didn’t give up easily and did things she never imagined she would have to.

Luke has a hard shell and won’t win you over right away, but you will love him as you get to know him. He hates what society expects and wants to avoid marriage and women for the most heartbreaking reasons. I loved that he didn’t realize how much he could scare people and when he was cornered by his siblings. He would give up everything for her even if it meant himself.

I will never get tired of the Beckett family or Mr. Larson. I hope to see more of Rachel’s cousin because of his story and David’s sister because she seems like she will be fun.

He’s turned seduction into an art form…

Rafe Beaumont, fifth son of an earl, uses his irresistible charm with the ladies to glean dangerous war secrets. Now he’s putting those skills to the ultimate test: capturing an elusive assassin by seducing his daughter. The problem? She’s entirely immune to Rafe’s flattery.

Never before has Collette Fortier met a man as attractive as Rafe. But her father’s life is at stake, and succumbing to Rafe would be disastrous. But when Rafe turns the tables on her, offering support and friendship instead of a fleeting affair, Collette finds herself tempted in ways she never could have imagined…

My Review

The seducer has met his match and jumped without a thought into the flames. I couldn’t put it down from the start wondering what would happen between them and when. They both had reasons for avoiding each other, but to everyone else, they were stupid to try. I was on the edge of my seat when they came up with their plan. At every turn, they were met with a fight and sometimes a friend, but it was always a surprise. I wanted to scream when he went back to London, but the talk he had with his stepmother and other were so worth it. The ending was perfect especially with what she made him do. I hope to see them again and Grimes was an interesting man.

Collette will do anything to save her father even shielding her heart. I loved her right away because she tried so hard to find what she needed and wouldn’t give up. She let fear and her mission blind, but not completely.

Rafe always wanted the exciting mission he just didn’t realize this one would turn into one. He will break your heart with his reason for not wanting to marry and win you over with his charm and kindness. I loved that he was willing to do anything to help.

I can’t wait for the next story!

Bonny Reed is beautiful, inside and out.

A loyal friend and loving daughter, she’s newly engaged to her small town’s most eligible bachelor. She’s happy for herself—but mostly for her family, who need the security her marriage will bring.

An old enemy shatters her illusions.

First Baron Loel cost Bonny’s family her fortune. Now he’s insisting that her fiancé has hidden flaws, secrets so dark that—if she believed him—she’d have to call off the wedding.

How will she choose?

When the truth comes out, Bonny will have to choose between doing what’s right and what’s easy. Between her family and her best friend. And hardest of all—between her honor and the love of a man who everyone wants her to hate.

My Review

This is my first book by Erin Satie and OMG! This story shows love can survive anything that is thrown at in its path. Both of them will pull at your heart with heartbreaking stories and how they find each other in a cruel world. I was hooked from the start with her work and how she and her friend were. You will go through many emotions with how people treat them and following their story until the end. That spark between them just got stronger as time went on and they could take on anything. They both had amazing friends that stood by them no matter what. The ending left me wanting more in a good way because I wanted to see them rise higher than before.

Bonny has the biggest heart and doesn’t turn her back on someone in need. I loved her right away because she truly cared about others equally no matter their social status. She was extremely brave in many ways and stood her ground when it came to finding the truth and doing what she wanted.

Loel suffered horribly and was still paying for an accident from years ago and should want revenge, but his heart won’t allow it. He had me the moment he kissed her wrist and I loved him as he told his story of what happened after everything. He learned to understand her and would do anything for.

I can’t wait for the next one and hope to see them again. This is going on my all-time favorite list.

EM TAYLOR brings you an amazing new series of Regency stories based on the fairy tales you loved as a child.

Young ladies of good breeding do not kiss gentlemen in their bed chambers even if they have been asleep for three weeks. One would think Lady Emily would know that. One would think Lady Emily would not have entered Lord Beattie’s bed chamber alone. One would have thought that kissing the handsome viscount would have been the last thing she would have done.
But kiss him she did. And that was when the apothecary walked in. All of which meant she had to marry Lord Beattie.

Why the silly little chit had kissed him when he’d been out cold for three weeks, the Lord alone knew. And now Gideon, Viscount Beattie had to marry the outspoken little minx. But there was something a little charming about her. The problem was, her uncle was after his hide, the peasants were revolting – in the rioting sense, not in the disgusting sense – and he really needed to procure some grain from up north. He may as well kill two birds with one stone and elope with the interesting, frustrating, irritating and thoroughly delightful Lady Emily – soon to be Viscountess Beattie. It would be an interesting journey.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This book has no magic in it. While loosely based on a fairy tale, the story is gender swapped and there is no paranormal happenings.

My Review

This is an amazing take on a fairy tale that I absolutely love! I really liked the reversed roles in this and that it wasn’t full of fairy tale fluff. From the moment she kissed him I knew it was going to be a fun read. They are not your typical couple and are more real and relatable. I loved how they were learning about each other and that they both spoke their minds. I held my breath when they got to her brother’s, but loved the talking to he got from Gideon and how he was afterward. I loved the ending and the part at the ball really left me interested for more.

Emily is a favorite of mine! She is very outspoken and as curious as can be, but she also is very self-conscious. Both things make her very real and relatable. I loved her right away because of how outspoken she was and that she asked the questions that worried her. She needed him to raise her up and treat her the way she deserved.

Gideon can come off as a brute and rough at times, but he really has a kind heart and keeps his word. I loved how he would answer her questions and wanted her to know she was perfect to him. He would do anything to protect her and prove to her that she was special.

Review:

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤ ❤

Spice Level: 💋💋💋💋

Just when I think I have a favorite Untouchable Darcy gives me the heart-melting Duke of Lies! I almost jumped out of my skin when he returned after hints of what he was like before. But he was definitely not the same person as before. There is so much to uncover and keep secret in this book that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time not know ing what was coming. The Duke of Lies fits him perfectly, but not for reasons you think and when the full truth comes out you will be jumping up and down. I somewhat figured out who was behind things, but not the full truth of it and it was shocking.

Verity is determined to make sure her son turns out to be a great man unlike the men in her life. She had been through a lot of things, but they just made her stronger. She found real love while seeing right through lies, but didn’t give up.

Rufus is not the person he seems to be and he will melt your heart. As his story came out I loved him more and more. He was determined to keep her and Beau safe no matter what happened. I loved him when he was reading to Beau and everything he did for her.

Of course, you know when the Untouchables get involved things are going to turn out perfectly.

Excerpt:

The day was warm and bright, and she was looking forward to being outside. The door she’d come through suddenly burst open. Beau dashed out, his laughter immediately filling the courtyard.

He was quickly followed by Rufus, who chased him along the edge of the garden to the center path. Beau didn’t slow as he rounded the corner, and his feet slipped on the cobblestones. He fell down, landing on his side.

Verity dropped the blanket and ran toward him, but Rufus beat her by quite a bit. It was then that she realized he hadn’t been using his top speed to chase the boy. She’d seen that when he’d caught Racer that day at Mr. Maynard’s farm.

Rufus picked Beau up and set him on his feet and squatted down in front of him.“All right?”

Verity had expected Beau to cry, and his face had gone slightly pale. She lowered herself next to Rufus.“Did that scare you?” she asked, stroking Beau’s arm from shoulder to elbow and back again.

Beau nodded. Then a moment later, he ran to the top of the stairs leading to the courtyard.“Come on, Papa, catch me!”

Rufus stood and offered his hand to Verity to help her rise. She wasn’t wearing gloves, and neither was he. It was the first time their flesh had touched, and it was like grabbing lightning. Or how she imagined it to be—electrifying and hot, and it left a lasting impression.

“Please don’t chase him down the stairs. He already fell once.” She turned to Beau and called,“Please be careful.”

“I am being careful, Mama. And don’t worry about the stairs. I ran down them to the kitchen passage and didn’t fall.”

She looked over at Rufus.“Is that right?”

His gaze drifted to the side, and he hesitated a moment.“Er, yes. We were playing knights and villains.”

“Which one were you?”

“It was my turn to be the knight.”

Verity frowned and shifted a glance toward Beau.“I don’t like thinking of my boy as a villain.”

“It’s pretend,” Rufus said.“But if it makes you feel better, he only chooses to be the villain because he likes to be chased.”

“Can’t the villain chase the knight?”

His mouth tipped into a crooked smile, and her stomach did a flip. It was as if lightning had struck again.“It’s pretend. We can do whatever we like.” He looked back toward the basket and the blanket on the ground.“I’ll get the things for the picnic.” He turned and started along the path.

“I can grab the blanket,” she offered.

He waved a hand.“I’ve got it.”

Verity went to Beau instead. She took his hand, and they descended into the courtyard, then veered right toward the gateway to the stable yard.“Perhaps I should play knights and villains.” She wondered why they hadn’t done that before and felt bad. It was a stark reminder of how much he’d missed not having a father.

“But you’re a girl.” Beau sounded scandalized.

Rufus met them as they approached the gate.“Whats wrong with your mother being a girl?”

“She wants to play knights and villains.” He made a face that clearly showed what he thought of that idea.

Verity was caught between laughter and disappointment.

“It would be better if she joined us,” Rufus said, drawing Beau’s sharp attention.“A knight needs a fair maiden to rescue.”

“Then I am definitely going to be the villain. I don’t wanna rescue a girl.” He frowned, then sent his mother an apologetic glance.“Except I do want to save you, Mama.”

Verity surrendered to the laughter. “Thank you.”

“But Papa should be the one to save you. That’s what dukes do, right?”

“That’s what husbands do,” Rufus corrected,“whether they are a duke or not.”
