Stubborn hearts might be the last to fall, but when the hard tumble comes, it’ll last forever.

Jonathan Banshire, Viscount Trewellain, has become a bitter, sarcastic lord and against anything remotely smacking of romance. Though engaged to a woman whose hand he’d won in a game of cards years ago, he hasn’t thought of her in years. But he’s also a king’s agent, and as his duty to the Crown, he’s being sent to Spain to track down a missing peer. He goes to escape his personal life.

Miss Sophia Wickham is tired of men deciding her future. She’s on a mission to live her life on her terms, but can’t due to an ambiguous engagement to the Viscount Trewellain. Determined to gain her freedom, she sneaks onboard the ship intent to have Jonathan release her from that old promise. When he refuses in a fit of pique, she’s stuck as a stowaway, bound to the one man she can’t stand.

In Madrid, they search for not only the missing lord, but also stolen Spanish crown jewels and an ancient relic. Through crashing a glittering ball to hunting down clues to exploring the hidden catacombs and caves beneath Barcelona, the unlikely pair comes to an understanding. Vulnerable and trapped, truths are revealed as well as the fragile state of their hearts. But machinations of a madman bent on revenge could destroy a budding romance, and when the specter of death makes an appearance, Jonathan must finally decide what it is he desires the most.

My Review

Three words. Spies. Relics. Romance. My three favorite things in books! When their story was hinted at in Caught with a Stolen Diamond I knew it was going to be a wild adventure, but had no idea of what it was between them. There is so much heat between them that it practically jumps off the pages. They are truly a unique couple that are opposites but perfect for each other. I was holding my breath wondering what was going to happen and wanting to know who was behind everything.

Sophia is the boldest heroine I have ever read and she my all time favorite! I loved her from the moment she stepped on the ship, but even more when she didn’t back down. She never gave up on him once she got to know him and saw the real him. When she kept at him to not give up was amazing. I loved how you could tell her tone depending on if she used his title or name.

Jonathan has the weight of so many things on his shoulders that he needs to let go of. Even though he one of the most stubborn people he is really very sweet. I loved that he didn’t send her back home and took her with him without a thought. The journey of him letting go of the past and realizing his true self was amazing.

With her betrothal to a duke in tatters and scandal imminent, Diana Kingman has two choices: live in certain ignominy or flee into obscurity. Diana wants solitude. She never wished to wed in the first place. However, her father will stop at nothing to betroth her to one of the finest titles in the realm…no matter how loathsome the bearer. Escape is Diana’s only option, and she’ll pay any price to achieve freedom.

Universally blamed for the death of his wife and unborn child, Simon Hastings doesn’t dispute his guilt over an accident he cannot even remember. He hasn’t had a drink since, nor a moment’s peace. Determined to be a better man, Simon rescues a young woman in need—only to be accused of kidnapping. They must marry to save him from prison. But how can a man haunted by the love he lost and a woman afraid to get too close find happiness together?

My Review

I was looking forward to this so much since we got to know Simon in The Duke of Ice and it didn’t disappoint! I loved that it pretty much picked up from the last one and was an adventure from the start. They needed each other and both learned to open up about their pasts and secrets. I loved that her cousin started making plans and knew how things were going to turn out. I didn’t see the truth about his wife’s death coming in a thousand years because I thought that it would stay a full mystery that he would let go. That was a shocking and amazing twist to have. The wedding scene was another favorite of mine especially the ring.

Diana needs to escape, but not just because of the scandal from her engagement ending. She hid her secrets well, but they didn’t define her and only made her stronger. I loved that she didn’t hold back or shy away from anything. When she made up her mind to do something she did it.

Simon was going to make sure she was safe and had her freedom. He broke my heart everytime he thought about his wife and what happened. I loved how had no problem telling people they were rude and using being a Duke to shut them up. He was a gentleman as much as possible.

I didn’t like his mother at first, but she grew on me after Diana’s parents showed up.

Barely fourteen, Ceci Prejean is a tomboy running wild in the hot Louisiana summer. After breaking the nose of a local boy, her father decides to enlist the aid of Hecubah, a beautiful Creole woman, with a secret past, who takes Ceci in hand and turns her into a lady.

Now, eighteen-year-old Ceci meets and falls passionately in love with a handsome young northerner, Trent Sinclaire. Trent is a cadet at the West Point military academy. He acts as if he knows Ceci. They begin a torrid affair, even as the southern states begin to secede from the Union.

Only weeks before their wedding, the Confederate army attacks Fort Sumter and the civil war begins. Trent is called to active service in the north, leaving Ceci heartbroken in the south. Swearing vengeance on the union, after the untimely death of her family at the fall of New Orleans, Ceci meets with infamous spy master, Henry Doucet. He initiates her into the shadowy world of espionage. After her failure to avert the catastrophe at Gettysburg, Ceci infiltrates the White House.

There, she comes face to face with Abraham Lincoln, a man she’s sworn to kill. Forming a reckless alliance with the actor, John Wilkes Booth, she is drawn deeper into the plot to assassinate the President of the United States. A Confederate spy in love with a Union officer, her next decision will determine whether she lives or dies…

My Review

Real history, romance, and revenge make this an amazing story! I love that this story didn’t just cover a little bit of time in the civil war, it covered the whole war. I was hooked from the start when she broke that boys nose and how she became a lady. I loved the instant connection between them that was a fire that no one could put out. The bird spies all had their reasons for why they wanted to help the south win. I was holding my breath during her missions and every time something happened. I loved Hecubah and her story because I wouldn’t want to mess with her. When I got the end I didn’t want it to end.

Ceci is bent on revenge and torn between both sides. I loved her because she reacted like anyone else would, but she didn’t completely see red. It was a journey for her to get back to the man she loved and the person she really was. I held my breath when she met up with Booth.

Trent always loved her and everything about her. I loved the way he reacted to anything she did. I held my breath anytime he was near a battle. He was the perfect person for her.

I loved all the real historical figures and facts.

Jewels and treasures hold no worth when held against the lives of loved ones.

Though thrilled to adventure again, the Countess of Archewyne worries their unexpected trip to India will delay her first official mission as a new king’s agent. But when Emmaline is told she and her husband will trade a priceless diamond for the kidnapped daughter of a marquess, she’s willing to make the sacrifice. Too bad no one knows exactly where the sought-after jewel is.

Miles Lawrence Hawkins, the fifth Earl of Archewyne, is looking forward to being out in the field again and away from the ton. Defending England’s interests from nefarious blackhearts is one of his favorite ways to spend time. But when he and his beloved wife embark on a fool’s mission to steal the Third Eye of Shiva and they stumble upon troubling clues from his past during their arduous journey across the world, he can’t help but think there should be a limit on men who wish his country ill.

As Emmaline and Miles are introduced to the exotic life behind an Indian prince’s palace walls, things aren’t what they seem. A bid for power reveals who truly controls the area while an insidious lie puts them both in danger. As peril dogs their steps and desperation fuels their actions, they must use every wile and skill they have in order to survive. For the sake of their little family and their own romance, they will give it their all. What else besides king, country and love is worth the fight?

My Review

This is my first time reading one of Sandra’s books and I’m hooked! She knows how to take you on an adventure that will have you holding your breath at every turn. I was up until 3am reading because I couldn’t put it down. I loved that they are married and this continues their romance in a way. I really like that this book shows every stop on the way to India and is full of surprises every place they go. It is full of twists and surprises while they try to save everything including each other.  There are also hints of other things going on with others that left me excited for more.

Emmaline is my favorite heroine! She can fight, is stubborn, and you do not want to mess with her. I loved that even though she would get mad at being told what to do she would realize the reason behind it. She doesn’t hold her tongue either.

Miles is also a favorite because he doesn’t hold back his feelings and you don’t want to even hint at hurting his family. I loved that even though he loved the life of being an agent he didn’t let that cloud his judgment.

I will definitely be getting the other books!

Katherine did what was expected of her. She married the man her parents deemed suitable. However, she could not do all that was expected of her.

After less than a year of marriage, Katherine is coerced to a doctor’s office, where she must admit the humiliating fact that she hasn’t shared her husband’s bed. She knows what the diagnosis will be and the degrading treatments women with hysteria are subject to. But with a judgemental mother-in-law in tow and an impatient husband at home, the choice is not hers.

Despite herself, she comes to trust the unusual and unconventional man treating her. And, when her increasingly volatile husband threatens to force from her that which she’s unable to give, she feels she must acquiesce to all of her doctor’s recommendations.

Swept up in a surge of self-discovery and sexual awakening, Katherine faces a new reason to be terrified. One she could never have imagined.

Due to adult themes and language, this novel is intended for readers 18 and over.

My Review

This is not just a romance this about a woman’s journey to reclaim herself. This book shows another side of the times with the history of the standard treatments of any women’s problems. The double standard of the times is full focus too. I loved how they felt so complete with each other and knew they couldn’t be without each other. So much goes on this book that shows the darker side, but also brings them together as they overcome everything. I couldn’t put it down because I never knew what was going to happen next and never expected the twist at the end but loved it.

Katherine is an amazing woman. I loved seeing how she changed and getting to know her more over the whole story. I cheered when she found her voice and let her husband have it. She tried to protect herself by protecting others until she couldn’t anymore. She is an inspirational character and a favorite.

David is an amazing doctor that is ahead of his time. I loved how he seemed to know more than he let on and that he kept his promise to her. He would do anything to protect her and he did. I loved that he never gave up on her.

This book does handle some subjects that could be triggering to some people such as rape, domestic violence, and drugs. They are handled very well in this book.

“This place is too dangerous for a face like yours.”
“I feel as if I’ve heard those words before.”

It’s been several years since Araceli Arroyo left behind the burning ruins of her family’s hacienda in New Mexico for a new start in California. Despite the time that’s passed and all the loss she’s suffered, the painful memory of war is like fresh paint on a blank canvas. Perhaps that’s why the prints she creates always hold a touch of sadness. However, she’s determined to produce something new – a masterpiece that will inspire the folks in the growing town of Blessings. Could the new hire at her father’s sawmill help her do that… or will the secrets he carries destroy them both?

From Texas to New Mexico, problems stick to Miguel Santiago like stink on old fish. Hoping to shed his old life, he’s thankful for a friend’s invitation to start anew in a place where he can be anyone – literally. Operating under the alias of Michael St. James, his fair looks and country twang allow him to pass as any other American cowboy in search of California’s promise of golden opportunities. Could the family he’s always wanted also be part of the prospect… or will the woman of his dreams discard him like her dried jars of paint when his past is revealed?

A story of desire and deception, dismay and deliverance, hearts burn as bright as the summer sun setting on the golden California coastline in this classic western.

My Review

This one may just be my favorite in this series! It’s written in the way that you can easily picture everything in your head and hear them talking. I knew from the moment they met that it would be interesting. I loved how they fit each other and would teach each other (I’m a sucker for certain lesson scenes). Mr. Winslet worked fast and still surprised me with how he works. I actually held my breath at the mountain lion and then again with what happened next. I never saw the twists coming with his problems or his family. You just have to love her father for everything he has done and the twists with him her amazing and a surprise.

Araceli is married to her work and stubborn, but she listens when she should. I loved her right away because even though she wanted to be cold to him she couldn’t fully. The way she talked about painting was amazing. I loved that she was not one to fall to pieces at things.

Miguel has spent his life torn between two worlds and trouble just kept following him. I loved him from the start with how he thought about both sides of things. He was really looking for a new life and in the end got it with a surprise.

I loved that they also spoke Spanish at times in this story because it made them more real.

It is a truth universally acknowledged
that a lady can do anything a man can do:
backwards and in high-heeled dancing slippers.

Lady Juliana, daughter of the Earl of St. Maur, needs all the help she can get. She’s running a ramshackle orphanage, London’s worst slumlord has illicit designs on her, and her father has suddenly become determined to marry her off.

Enter Major Neil Wraxall, bastard son of the Marquess of Kensington, sent to assist Lady Juliana in any way he can. Lucky for her, he’s handy with repairs, knows how to keep her and the orphans safe, and is a natural leader of men.

Unfortunately for both of them, the scandal that ensues from their mutual attraction is going to lead them a merry dance…

My Review

The journey of the survivors continues and you won’t be disappointed! I laughed so hard when they were bickering and him and his friends that I almost dropped my book many times. There’s an instant spark between them, but both are so stubborn and set on their plans that its hysterical. I loved getting to know all the orphans and seeing how attached they were to them. I never saw the twist coming with the slumlord or the amazing one at the end! I loved seeing them help each other with their pasts and come together.

Juliana has vowed to never marry or trust men because of the past. I loved how well she could handle things on her own. When she decided to do something she didn’t and you don’t dare to tell her not to do it. She was so caring and loving.

Neil was sucked in as soon as he walked in the door. I loved how he was with the kids and that he tried not to get attached. He had his own past that set him in his ways and he just needed to find his place.

I also loved her father because his heart was in the right place. I can’t wait to get to know the other survivors.

A tale of an enduring love, powerful enough to survive time and circumstance. Two souls destined to be halves of a whole, but fated to be kept apart. And yet a love such as this is not content to blindly accept the bonds of fate…

Nathaniel can hardly recall a time he hasn’t adored Madeline. For Madeline, he truly is her knight in shining armour. Alas, one stolen night is all they are granted before Madeline is given in marriage to the wealthy and titled, Earl of Marbourne, who is fast friends with the king. A whirlwind of intrigue and contrivance follows Madeline as she joins the court and catches the eye of the king, while cruel fate conspires to keep Madeline and Nathaniel apart despite their desperate love.

It lies not in our power to love or hate,
For will in us is overruled by fate.
When two are stripped, long ere the course begin,
We wish that one should love, the other win;
And one especially do we affect
Of two gold ingots, like in each respect:
The reason no man knows; let it suffice
What we behold is censured by our eyes.
Where both deliberate, the love is slight:
Who ever loved, that loved not at first sight?
~ Christopher Marlowe

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange or my honest review

A forbidden love that overcomes so many things because fate overrules everything. I rarely get to read this time period and I’m so glad I got to read this one. It’s an emotional rollercoaster throughout this story and you will cry, be angry, and excited many times. I fell in love with their story right away and couldn’t put it down. So many things kept them apart at every turn even tragedies. I never saw the twists coming especially the one at the end.

Madeline is stubborn and that helps her keep her head high with everything that happens. I loved her right away because she didn’t just nod her head and go along without a fight. She feared nothing and didn’t hesitate to work to take down the person causing so much of the pain.

Nathaniel will break your heart in many ways. He is a knight ruled by his emotions at times. I loved him more and more throughout the story because he truly tried to let go and be happy without her. He would do anything to protect her even though his heart was broken. I was so happy that he was the one to follow the king’s orders.

This book has some very accurate information and has my favorite vows in it. The cover matches a scene in the book and I love that.

Scandal, manipulation and ambition hinder the lovers’ path to happiness. Only they can decide if love is worth fighting for.

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review

I love a book full of good scandal like this! This is one of those that you never dought if they will end up together, but you wonder what will happen along the way to cause problems. I loved that this was so different from most with the virgin action and that it wasn’t a rescue story like most. They hid their relationship but also didn’t in a sense because it was clear to everyone there was something there. I never expected to like Mr. Turner, but I did and I loved the whole story with him. I also didn’t see the twist of the paper coming and who was behind it at all. That was a surprise that added to everything.  I also loved his family especially he father who was not what you expect.

Emily doesn’t do anything without a plan. I loved that she was not shy and wasn’t going to back down from her plan. She always put others first and was determined to pay off the debts and then find justice. I loved how she embraced scandal and became the green lady.

James means it when he says that he doesn’t care for society. He was a refreshing person because of how he broke the rules and did what he wanted. I loved him from the start because it was clear why he had to have her. He was so torn about what to do and it was so sad to see him struggle.

I can’t wait for more of this series and hope that his sister gets what she wants. I also hope her friend finds happiness.

A pursuit is underway…
From the hallowed halls of London’s Almack’s to the unkempt taverns of Drury Lane, from whispered words in glittering theatres to seductive kisses at Vauxhall Gardens – an earl must pursue his lady.

Propriety be damned. Anything is allowed. But for success, the Earl of Kelmarsh may have to enact the Rules of the Rogue…

A resolute lady.
Miss Sophie Beckford escaped to Ireland after her almost betrothed broke her heart. Now a year later, she’s back in London – stronger, better attired, armed with her cousin and determined not to fall for the blackguard’s wiles again.

A desperate gentleman.
What’s an earl to do when his almost betrothed refuses to speak to him, hear him out or even look at him after a misunderstanding of gargantuan proportions?

With dubious assistance from a roguish marquess, a strait-laced duke, and even the occasional poet and famous actor throwing in their sixpence, the earl will try any ruse, any rule in the book to recapture Sophie’s heart.

Failure is not an option.

A sensual Regency romance with warmth and wit.

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I was hooked from the start with what happened that night and couldn’t put it down. I love the bits of comedy in this story because it made everything feel real. From the rules to her cousin’s curses I was laughing. I loved every character and how they all interacted with each other with teasing and planning. When they were on the boat I could picture everything happening. The secondary romance blooming between her cousin and the duke was a great bonus and hope to see them again. The ending was perfect even though it left me wondering if the guy was dead or not.

Sophie came back from Ireland stronger than before and ready to fight. I loved that she didn’t hide and wasn’t going to be left behind either. She knew exactly what to do to get a man to let go of her. I loved that she didn’t instantly forgive and forget.

Bram was living a life he didn’t want and it cost him his future. I loved him right away with the plan he had to win her back and then everything he did. He was great at every turn no matter what bad advice he followed. I loved that he could use a sword and have him the sword pictured perfectly.

I hope to see the others again.
