The most powerful force in the world is love.

Lady Christiana Tremaine lives in the kingdom of Vesance, but ever since her father remarried, her stepmother—Lady Tremaine—has stripped her of everything befitting her station, has reduced her to that of a maid, and forced her to answer to the slur of Cinderella. Though the life of drudgery is horrid, she carries hope circumstances will change, especially when she remembers dancing with the prince who stole her heart. A chance meeting with that same man strengthens her resolve to change… if she can survive that woman’s deadly machinations.

Alto August Henry Ferdinand Lansdowne, Prince Charming of Annanvale has been searching for the woman who sent his world upside down and ran from him at midnight leaving a glass slipper behind. Though he’s been cursed to shift into wolf form each night, he has faith that the woman he’s coming to love will overlook his affliction. When he finds her, they begin an unorthodox courtship and he falls ever deeper, but their romance is fraught with obstacles.

When Christiana is locked into a high tower by her stepmother and kept there by an enchantment, Henry is quick to come, but when Lady Tremaine gets wind of their plot to escape, she lies in wait for the noble prince and leaves Cinderella to an ugly fate, for she desires power above all else. But as long as there is love, there is hope. The beleaguered pair will need to fight hard for their happily ever after. With luck and a little magic, they just might win.

Sandra writes the only shifter romances I read. She weaves fairy tales together so it’s like being in a magical world when reading it. This one takes on Cinderella and Rapunzel in a very unique way. Christiana and Henry’s love is truly a powerful force that brings them together and keeps them fighting. They never gave up on each other and wasn’t going to let evil win.

Christiana will not let Lady Tremaine control her life or follow through with her evil plans. It’s clear from the start that she is not a meek girl that will do as she’s told. I loved ready to fight she was.

Henry wasn’t going to stop until he found her and would die to help her. I loved how he saw through the lies and started planning. It was clear that he wouldn’t back down.

Descended from witches burned at the stake, Lady Emilia Noble knows all too well how society persecutes the different. She trusts no one but her own siblings, never daring to reveal to anyone outside the family that she, like her grandmother before her, can read a person’s emotions through the changing colors of their aura. When her brother’s foolhardy boast that he can predict the future entangles him with the unscrupulous Lord Abernathy, Emilia is faced with a new threat: the ruination of the family’s finances and the unmasking of their secret past.

Until Emilia meets Felix Hunter, the Duke of Kintore. For years, Felix has watched as his immoral uncle, Lord Abernathy, has cast shame upon their family through his dishonest machinations. Determined that Abernathy won’t hurt anyone else, he vows to help Emilia resolve her family’s debts. He’s been drawn to her since the moment he met her, and slowly, she begins to trust him too. But when Abernathy threatens to reveal the Noble family’s supernatural gifts, Emilia’s worst nightmare becomes a very real reality.

Can Felix and Emilia’s love triumph over the forces of evil, or are they fated to be perpetually alone?

When love is mixed with magic, anything can happen.

Fate brought them together with a little help. The moment they met they were drawn to each other and had no idea what was in store for them. I loved that they are a bit opposite in some things, especially in intense situations. I was surprised in the end with how he fixed things and that note has me excited for her siblings.

Emilia always puts her siblings first and will do anything to protect them. I loved how she wasn’t afraid and didn’t back down. She still had much to learn about her gift, but she let fate lead her without knowing it.

Felix has taken care of his uncle for years and nothing seems to shock him anymore. I loved that he always seemed to be calm and able to understand anything thrown at him. He knew what he had to do for himself and her family.

Ewan Mostyn thinks a job as a duke’s daughter’s bodyguard will be easy―but Lady Lorraine has a few tricks up her sleeve that spark an undeniable passion…

Fiercely loyal to his friends and comrades, Ewan Mostyn is the toughest in a group of younger sons of nobility who met as soldiers and are now trying desperately to settle back into peaceful Society. Ewan trusts his brawn more than his brains, but when he’s offered a job watching the Duke of Ridlington’s stubbornly independent daughter, he finds both are challenged.

Lady Lorraine wants none of her father’s high-handed ways, and she’ll do everything in her power to avoid her distressingly attractive bodyguard―until she lands herself in real trouble. Lorraine begins to see Ewan’s protectiveness in a new light, and she can only hope that her stoic guardian will do for her what he’s always done―fight for what he wants.

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

An amazing start to a new series! I was hooked from the moment Ewan threw the man out and then once they met I knew it was going to exciting and different with them. I loved how they were together from the start with trying to outsmart each other. I did not expect the trouble she found herself in or how desperate the person was to do that. I actually held my breath when her father told him no because I had no clue what was going to happen. The ending was perfect, especially with his friends. I also loved the story with her parents wondering what happened to them before.

Lorraine is extremely independent and when she sets her mind to something look out. Her way of thinking and doing what she wanted was going to cause some big trouble and scandal. I loved that she was free speaking and determined in helping him. I loved that she wasn’t so stubborn as to completely ignore what she was being told.

Ewan is one of those hero’s that has your heart right away. His past will break your heart and his sense of honor will make you love him. I loved that he took his job so seriously and how he could figure out what she was up to at every turn. When he went back to get her dog it said everything about their love.

I can’t wait for the next book!

Nevertheless, he can’t seem to forget her, or her passionate response to his kisses. How much danger could there be in one more try?

SHE WANTS REVENGE
Practical headmistress Lucy Lancester naively believes her charming rogue has moved on to his next conquest, leaving her free to cherish their one night together for the rest of her bluestocking days. Until the afternoon he arrives at her school intent on proving their one night together wasn’t enough—and this time, the scandal can’t be contained. Well, two can play at that. How hard can it be to ruin a rake?

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I couldn’t put it down! I was pulled in straight away with the backstory with her parents and that she refused to marry him. It’s very clear from the way they can’t keep their hand off of each other that there is something pulling them together, but so many things are keeping them apart at the same time. They both had to grow and learn about themselves and let go of the past. I loved how the writing of a book went along with everything. The ending is one that I wasn’t for sure how it would happen.

Lucy had a mind of her own and a fear from the past that kept her from marrying. She is full of surprises and I never knew how she would react to something. I loved when she finally listened to her brother and her heart.

Roman is a rake of a different kind. He had secrets in his past that needed to be told for everyone’s sake. I loved how he was so willing to change and not just for himself, but his family too. He did what he had to for everyone.

I loved seeing Roman’s working together and doing what they had to do.

Dublin, Ireland, 1880. Tired of treating rich hypochondriacs, Dr Will Fitzgerald left his father’s medical practice and his home on Merrion Square to live and practice medicine in the Liberties. His parents were appalled and his fiancée broke off their engagement. But when Will spends a night in a brothel on the eve of his best friend’s wedding, little does he know that the scarred and disgraced young woman he meets there will alter the course of his life.

Isobel Stevens was schooled to be a lady, but a seduction put an end to all her father’s hopes for her. Disowned, she left Co Galway for Dublin and fell into prostitution. On the advice of a handsome young doctor, she leaves the brothel and enters domestic service. But can Isobel escape her past and adapt to life and the chance of love on Merrion Square? Or will she always be seen as a scarlet woman?

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This is a very different book in many ways and I loved it! There are many things covered in the book that you normally don’t see or if they are mentioned they don’t play a major part in the story. I never knew what was going happen next because something was always getting in the way for them, but also bringing them closer together. Many shocking scandals, secrets, and happy endings throughout the book that keep you hooked. Their love story intertwines perfectly with everything else. Their love could withstand anything. The ending was perfect and unexpected.

Isobel is a very strong woman to have held her head high and came through everything that happened to her. I admire her doing what she had to in every situation no matter how shocking it was and that she kept her head high. She didn’t let her father’s words fully pull her down, but did need the right person to show her that she was worthy.

WIll did not look down on anyone and wanted to help those less fortunate no matter what. I loved the way he tended to always be thinking like a doctor and how he could talk to people so easily no matter what. He needed Isobel and much as she needed him at the time they met.

This book does touch on many subjects that might shock some readers such as abortion, some characters sexuality, strong language, and things that could be considered erotic.

Two morally compromised souls wage a battle of wits—and seduction—against the backdrop of the French Revolution in this thrilling romance from bestselling author Shana Galen.

After her late husband leaves her in debt to some dangerous people, Lady Gabrielle McCullough is forced to become a thief. In the intervening years, her skills have not gone unnoticed. After being recruited by the Scarlet Pimpernel, the mysterious do-gooder spiriting aristocrats out of revolutionary France, Gabrielle crosses the Channel for the most daring mission of her life. Accompanying her is the Earl of Sedgwick, a thief in his own right and an enticingly masculine presence. The man is not to be trusted—nor is Gabrielle’s body when he’s near.

Ramsey Barnes would not say he is an honorable man. His whole life has been based on a lie; why change now? Although it pains him to deceive the tantalizing Gabrielle, he’s working toward an altogether different objective: unmasking the Scarlet Pimpernel. If Ramsey fails, his blackmailer will ruin him. But when Ramsey’s confronted with the carnage of the Reign of Terror, he seeks refuge in Gabrielle’s heated embrace. Now he faces a terrible choice: betray the woman who’s stolen his heart—or risk losing everything.

My Review

*I received a copy from the author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I love a book that shows a different side of things and this is one of them. There are secrets and scandals surrounding both of them, but their hearts are in the right place with all of it. I loved that they have known each other for a long time, but thought they weren’t supposed to be together for different reasons. I was so sucked in by the mystery of the Scarlet Pimpernel and how he brought them together while helping others. You will get a shock with everything going on in France and be on edge at times not knowing what will happen next. The ending was totally unexpected and amazing.

Gabrielle is a fierce woman that knows what she’s doing when it comes to stealing. I loved that she didn’t hesitate to go to France and help save people. She fought her feelings about Ramsey at every turn, but couldn’t keep them all hidden.

Ramsey has a shocking, but good reason for why he didn’t marry her years ago. I loved what he had done that caused him to be blackmailed because it was not anything I could think of. He is one that you will love right away.

My Review

*I received from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I was grabbed from the start on the ship and knew it was going to be interesting! Their first meet was nothing like you would expect and I didn’t know how it would play out from there. They both liked being in control but needed to let go a bit to help each other. I loved their lessons and how they were sometimes at odd other things. I loved how they got engaged her with her cousins.

Callie was not a lady to be messed with. I loved that she was in charge of her own ships and her terms for a marriage. Her reasons for wanting to win were understandable and made a lot of sense. She wasn’t out for blood like her family has been known for.

Gavin comes off as a very cold hearted most of the time, but he really isn’t. I loved how much he cares about his siblings and that he didn’t realize how protective he was. His background explains a lot about him and made sense to why he was the way he was.

They were perfect for each other.

AN OUTRAGEOUS PROPOSITION
Elizabeth Spencer needs a man. Preferably one who won’t be too picky about the morality of her proposition, or his reputation. Lord Constantine Alexander can’t afford another trip to debtors’ prison, which makes him the perfect candidate. She doesn’t expect him to have a heart of gold, or to hold up his end of the bargain—particularly when his high-in-the-instep family gets involved. Nor does she expect to find him irresistible, because while she needs a man, she doesn’t particularly want one.

A WICKED BARGAIN
When a beautiful courtesan offers to satisfy his creditors, Con leaps at the opportunity. Never mind his mother and brothers are suspicious of his newfound fortune—being with Elizabeth is intoxicating enough to wipe any thought of scruples away. He soon realizes it’s not just his future he’s been gambling, but his future family. How can he convince London’s premier courtesan he’s more than a callow rake?

My Review

*I was provided a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I loved that this one picks up from the first book. The whole time I was wondering when someone was going to pop up and ruin their plans. I loved that they both didn’t want to marry, but kept being thrown together by everything and everyone. I did not expect her family to be the way they were or his family to be the opposite in ways. I got teary eyed in the end because of how everything happened and worked out.

Elizabeth has changed so much since becoming a mother and will do anything to keep her baby with her. I love how she doesn’t know what to do when Con doesn’t want money for helping more. She learned to open her heart again.

Con does whatever he can to help his family especially his one brother. He kind of grows up throughout the story and learns that he can’t fix everything and to love. I loved him because he would help anyone in need.

This one shows how hard it could be for women with children because the law wasn’t on their side.

“If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” Jane Austen

MISS OTIS REGRETS…

The entirely of Miss Elspeth Otis’s inheritance from her wastrel father is a battered old trunk with some scrawled-upon foolscap sheets. Nothing that could free her from a stifling life with her fusty maiden aunties in a musty old cottage in a misty corner of Scotland. Nothing that will give her the life she’s always dreamed of–a life full of kindness and kisses and love. Or will it?

NOTHING…

Mr. Hamish Cathcart wants more than anything to avoid the hasty marriage to a brewer’s daughter his father, the earl, has arranged to revive his fortunes. Hamish’s only hope is his failing publishing company, whose only asset is a scandalously banned book by an infamous, but unfortunately deceased, author. But when a new novel written by the same man lands on Hamish’s doorstep, he’ll go to any length to secure it–any length but love.
——-
This novella was previously released in the anthology Scandal’s Daughters.

My Review

*I received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

How could you not love a story where a scandalous book brings people together. I was sucked in from the start when the trunk was delivered. I loved how her aunt seemed to always have a plan for everyone involved. They were meant for each other and I loved how it played out between them.

Elspeth has been sheltered by her aunts from many things. She was not a shy girl though and just needed room to break free. I loved that she accepted who her father was and was open to being herself.

Hamish was determined to not end up in an arranged marriage. I loved that he didn’t blink at working and didn’t run from his feelings. He was a quick thinker when it came to everything.

All’s Fair in Love and Abduction

Coddled and pampered, since her mother’s death, Vesta Chambers is preparing for her come-out only to have her father return from London with a bride of his own! With her world turned upside down, Vesta accompanies her godmother to London, where she is smitten the instant she lays eyes on Captain Hewett DeVere of the Seventeenth Light Dragoons.

Captain Hew DeVere, younger brother to Vesta’s godfather, Viscount Ludovic “The Devil” DeVere, has returned from the American war scarred, disillusioned, and looking forward to settling down to a quiet and respectable life. When Hew turns his eyes toward the widowed Diana, Vesta is prepared to take extreme measures to prove just how wrong he is. But, Hew didn’t survive the worst of the war only to succumb to Vesta’s wayward wiles.

Proving the adage that opposites attract, this hilarious romantic romp pits a would-be huntress against a gallant hero in an epic war of wills.

My Review

This is not my normal kind read, but I did enjoy most of it. I like that it was a different take on the typical troupes. It did provide some laughs which is different from most like this and I really liked that. It is a faster read than I tend to like, but I did love a couple of scenes because they were funny. Even though I don’t tend to read books like this I still want to know what happens in the other books.

Vesta is every bit the spoiled brat. I didn’t like her until near the end when she realized what her actions can cause. I felt for her because she never expected her father to come home with a bride.

Hew is the kind of man that is easy to fall for. He’s a war hero and every bit the gentleman. He was exactly what she needed because he was her opposite. I liked his backstory and the twist with him.
