Identical twins, Ladies Lily and Amelia Woodward may look the same, but they’re as different as night and day. Ever-dutiful Lily is resigned to whatever destiny their great-uncle the Duke of Danby has in store for her, while free-spirited Amelia is determined to fight His Grace every step of the way. With Christmas upon them, the Woodwards set out for Danby Castle and stumble across an overturned coach and a pair of handsome gentlemen in peril. Will this fateful encounter alter the future for both sisters and the likely plans the duke had in store for all of them?

My Review

The Duke of Danby is at it again and this time it’s double the work. I think this is the most we’ve heard him talk or leave his study. You have two romances going on at once, but they blend perfectly together. Brought together because of a carriage accident their brother Jamie is going out of his mind trying to watch his sisters for different reasons. Lily and Richard are a love at first sight couple that are perfect for each other. They just have misunderstandings and a curse to get past.  Amelia and Daniel’s romance is more lust filled because she’s loved him from afar and he just now see her for her. Theirs is one that is fast, but sweet and you know they are going to be happy.

Lily takes life as it comes and is very level-headed. She doesn’t hide her feelings and has no secrets. I loved how she is with everyone and doesn’t hold back with him. She is the opposite of her sister and the center of her family.

Richard had a plan that was derailed as soon as he met Lily. I loved how he instantly was taken with her and quickly regretted his plan as soon as it was out of his mouth. He needed the Duke without realizing it.

Amelia is dramatic and afraid of what the Duke has planned for her. She can come off as childish, but really isn’t and is very sweet. I loved how she just came up with a plan and didn’t hesitate to ask.

Daniel isn’t really as perfect as he appeared back in Lady Grace’s Husband Hunt. He has a very passionate side that comes out around Amelia. I was so happy to see him get a happy ending.

The Earl and Countess of Banfield cordially request your attendance at the wedding for their daughters: Lady Tamsyn Hambly to Mr. Gryffyn Cardew, & Lady Morgan Hambly to Harold Mort, Viscount Blackwater, on the 24th day of December, 1811, at Castle Keyvnor, Bocka Morrow, Cornwall.

“A Love for Lady Winter” by Christy Carlyle
Lady Winifred Gissing has a secret: she sees ghosts. With this strange skill, and her odd, ethereal appearance, she knows she’ll never find acceptance among society, let alone love. But when she travels to Castle Keyvnor, she meets her aunt’s godson, Septimus Locke, the Earl of Carwarren. Scientific, rational Septimus stirs an unexpected passion in her, and she finds his experiments in galvanism fascinating. Romance sparks between them, but will his past and her unusual ability destroy their chance at happiness?

“His Christmas Angel” by Jerrica Knight-Catania
Ethan Dallimore, Duke of Westbury, would like a little peace in his life. Unfortunately, he has the weight of the world on his shoulders with one demanding sister and one always-underfoot ward. To make matters worse, he arrives at Castle Keyvnor with a debilitating headache that won’t go away. All he wants to do is sleep until it’s gone, but that’s not an option as he’s traveled to the tip of Cornwall to attend a holiday wedding, and even houseguests have their duties. However, Ethan’s desire to sleep is soon replaced with his desire to get to know the mysterious beauty whose mere presence seems to take his pain away.

Miss Angel Quinn doesn’t exactly belong at Castle Keyvnor with all its aristocratic guests, even if she does share a bloodline with some of them. But she knows it’s important to accept the invitation to her long-estranged cousins’ weddings, so she puts on her grown-up bloomers and heads for the castle. But so much more awaits her in the mystical village of Bocka Morrow, and the young witch may soon discover just who she was always meant to be.

“Lady Rose & Lord Snow” by Claudia Dain
The Grimstone has come to Castle Keyvnor. His name is Charles Snowingham and he is the Earl of Grimstone. Upon his right hand he wears the Grimstone ring, an ancient ring imbued with, it is said, ancient power to destroy ghosts and ghouls and otherworldly things. Snow is not the sort of man to believe in fairy tales, until he arrives in Castle Keyvnor, that is, and he meets Lady Rose Hambly.

Lady Rose is determined to escape her ancestral home, Castle Keyvor. She’s not about to admit it publicly, but there is a certain ghost at the castle who is haunting her. Since her sisters Morgan and Tamsyn are being wed on Christmas, and since the castle will be awash with eligible men, she is determined to find a husband as quickly as possible, if only to get away from Castle Keyvnor and her impossible ghost.

What Lady Rose and Lord Snow do not realize is that the ghosts of Keyvnor want them away from the castle immediately, if not sooner. The Grimstone ring spells their doom, and Rose’s ghost doesn’t want to haunt her just as fervently as she wishes not to be haunted. Will Rose take romantic advice from a ghost who does nothing but insult her? Not willingly.

I really loved this one! I was hooked from the start because she could see ghosts and then because they both were unique. The way they first met was very different and really said a lot about love and them. I loved her aunts and that there were secrets surrounding everyone.

Winifred has spent a long time keeping secrets to protect her family and needs to be free. I loved her right away because she wanted to help the ghosts she saw. She needed to let it all out and set herself free.

Septimus needs to let his anger free and forgive before he can be free. I loved him because he was so different and the things he did. He wanted to learn so much and everything.

This may be my favorite in this series! I loved that this one involved witches and a unique way of bringing them together. I had no clue as to why she was being affected in the castle they way she was until it was made clear. They needed each other before they even met and the castle brought them together.

Angel had been for years trying to find out what her gift was and didn’t know it was there all along. I loved that she was on a journey for herself and found love too. She didn’t back down and was very open with people.

Ethan was plagued not only by his sister and ward but also a huge headache that nothing helped. I loved that he was instantly drawn to her and didn’t know why. He was more open than you would think to everything.

The Grimstone ring will definitely make you sit up and pull you into this story. I love that this one was all about destiny and that included some favorite ghosts. So many things were working to bring them together for different reasons. Once they were both in the castle it’s fast from there. I was sad but also happy to see a favorite ghost go.

Rose was completely serious about finding a husband right away even though her plan does go as planned. I loved that she spoke her mind and that people knew she was serious. She was extremely sensitive to the ghost especially one.

Charles wore the ring and thought nothing about the legend about it no matter what his grandmother said. I loved that as soon as he got to the castle he was pulled towards her and didn’t know why. He understood her more than anyone else.

Spinsterhood has never looked so good, but unfortunately even that won’t save Lady Juliette Brooks. Her father’s arranged a betrothal for her to a brute of a man. She has one choice left—force the Duke of Kissinger to honor a long ago promise to save her.

Grayson Abbot, the Duke of Kissinger, does not want to marry Lady Juliette. He doesn’t want to marry anyone. But he did make her a promise, and he doesn’t go back on his word… So he reluctantly agrees to run away with her.

They set off on an adventure during the Christmastide season. As they race to Scotland they experience delays, cold weather, and a friendship they’d almost forgotten about. Will Juliette finally find out what it’s like to be kissed, and in return, win the duke’s heart?

My Review

This one is different from the others in the series and I absolutely loved it! What else is a lady to do when her father is set to marry her off to a horrible man, but seek out her childhood friend that now has a certain reputation? They were childhood friends that haven’t spoken in fifteen years, but he made a promise then and will keep it. I loved that they headed for Greta Green and the ceremony when the were married because of the details.

Juliette may seem like a quite girl that does what her father says, but it’s more of an act and she proves them wrong as soon as she runs away. I loved how she never backed down and knew Grayson better than himself. She is an amazing girl and one of my favorite heroines.

Grayson has done the opposite of what his father wanted since he sent him away to school, but deep down there is still a bit of the boy Juliette loved. I loved how he slowly put away his rogue persona. He is one of my favorite heroes.

I wish it was longer because I loved it so much. I hope her stepmother wasn’t so mean to have known how bad a man she pushed her to marry was. I was glad her father realized what could have happened to his daughter.

Christmas is Over

The tree and decorations are already packed away for next year. We had a great dinner of roasted chicken, boiled potatoes, green beans and rolls and we stuffed ourselves. We didn’t have any snow, instead we had to have the AC on since it was almost 70 outside and raining.

Abigail and Spot loved their gifts. Abigail got a new bed and little crocheted cowl. Spot got a new squeaky mouse toy and a crocheted polo poncho. Pictures will be below.

My family knows me very well. Books and craft stuff is always a great choice for me. I got book 5, 6 and 7 of the Outlander series which will probably keep me busy until the new season, a paper cutter that I needed since I can’t cut a straight line to save my life, a large owl and barn themed paint by numbers that will take me awhile to finish, a purple book light and a nature themed adult coloring book!

They also know that craft stuff especially the painting keeps me busy and quiet for hours at a time. I don’t usually touch my phone or get online when painting which is odd since I am a multi-task person and usually doing a couple of things at once.
