What I’m Reading This Week

What I'm Reading This Week (2)

This week I am busy with work so I won’t have three reviews, but I will have at least one. This book will be The Hellion by Christi Caldwell which I have been looking forward to reading. If I’m able to do another review it will be Erica Ridley’s latest book.

Something I’m thinking about starting here on this blog is at the first of every month I will post a list of new releases I’m looking forward to that month. Or If there isn’t any I will post what I will be reviewing for sure that month. That way you can see if there is a book you are wondering about coming up in my reviews.

You can always ask me about a book and I will see if I have reviewed it before or if it is in my TBR list of books I already have and I can review it.

Not too long ago you saw my review for The Blessed Bride by Lynn Winchester and since I am loving this series and plan to read them all so I decided to feature it here. The first five are available to buy and pre-order right now.

This is series that I feel will be perfect for all readers and ages. They are sweet books that reflect each authors style and offer a wide range of characters, but all have one thing in common. They all have strong women that are trying to make it on their own. If you have been following me for awhile you know I love strong women in the books I read. These books also have an awesome matchmaker who loves his wife to the moon and back that loves to bring people together. These are all set during the gold rush which is something I love and know many of you will. Plus every single cover is gorgeous and makes you want to pick them up.

About the Book: Leaving Ireland for America, Patience “Pati” O’Connor has followed the trail of her heartbroken father west, to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With no money and a missing father, Pati has no choice but to settle down in a small, gold mining town of Blessings, California. Maybe the rough and tumble place could use a skilled seamstress…

Pete Jones has spent a lifetime fighting. Wounded in battle during the Mexican War, Pete is left with shaking hands, nightmares, and a sour disposition—but his new job protecting gold claims in Blessings just might be what he needs to kick the anguish of his past.

When Pati’s new business is robbed, she seeks help from the ornery yet honorable Pete, who doesn’t seem too keen on sticking his nose into her business. But Pete can’t seem to say no to the vibrant, fiery, oh so beautiful lass, which may spell trouble for his plans to stay lonely and single.

As the town begins to grow around them, and as trouble starts to slither in, Pati and Pete are desperate to find a love more valuable than all the gold in the mountain.

But can Pete be a man worthy of Pati’s love, and can Pati convince Pete she is destined to be his blessed bride?

37547384Title: Hell-Bent on Blessings

Author: Heather Blanton

Release Date: February 14, 2018

About the Book: YOU KNOW MY STYLE OF WRITING—strong heroines who don’t mess around. They roll up their sleeves and get the job done. I love the stories of women who persevere and overcome, so you can imagine how much I enjoyed writing Hell-Bent on Blessings. It releases on Feb. 14 but you can pre-order TODAY!

Harriet’s worthless husband has snatched the world out from under her feet, and then gone and died on her, to boot. First, though, he left her in deep debt and facing foreclosure on the ranch that she loves almost as much as her own children. Livid, staring at bankruptcy and fighting hopelessness, she grits her teeth and comes up with a plan. Money, gold, and jobs are abundant in the boom town of Blessings, California. She’ll start over there, taking one step at a time to rebuild a life with her children, her financial independence, and her dreams of a new ranch.

God help the man who ever gets in her way again…

Jason Meredith, an old friend, has a few things he’d like to say to Harriet, especially now that she’s a widow. He might have better luck surviving a bear attack, though, than thawing her frozen heart. He’s got his work cut out for him, but Jason’s a patient man. At least, he used to think he was…

Title: Dueling the Desperado

Author: Mimi Milan

Release Date: March 7, 2018

About the Book: “This place is too dangerous for a face like yours.”
“I feel as if I’ve heard those words before.”

It’s been several years since Araceli Arroyo left behind the burning ruins of her family’s hacienda in New Mexico for a new start in California. Despite the time that’s passed and all the loss she’s suffered, the painful memory of war is like fresh paint on a blank canvas. Perhaps that’s why the prints she creates always hold a touch of sadness. However, she’s determined to produce something new – a masterpiece that will inspire the folks in the growing town of Blessings. Could the new hire at her father’s sawmill help her do that… or will the secrets he carries destroy them both?

From Texas to New Mexico, problems stick to Miguel Santiago like stink on old fish. Hoping to shed his old life, he’s thankful for a friend’s invitation to start anew in a place where he can be anyone – literally. Operating under the alias of Michael St. James, his fair looks and country twang allow him to pass as any other American cowboy in search of California’s promise of golden opportunities. Could the family he’s always wanted also be part of the prospect… or will the woman of his dreams discard him like her dried jars of paint when his past is revealed?

A story of desire and deception, dismay and deliverance, hearts burn as bright as the summer sun setting on the golden California coastline in this classic western.

What I’m Reading This Week – A New Author

stencil.blog-post-feature (2)

This week I’m reading not only a new to me author but a brand new author! I’m reading Leila Snow’s Proof of Virtue. It’s not your typical romance as it’s truer to the time with no fluff and raw.

While I do love the romances out there I’m also always on the lookout for those that dare to be different by showing more of the rougher side of the times, choosing settings outside of the ballrooms and fancy locations, or having storylines that are not always popular.

I can’t wait to dive into this one and post my review Wednesday!

What I’m Reading This Week

stencil.blog-post-feature (2)

Like I said on Friday I am reading Hot Winter Nights by Tammy Andresen, Amy Rose Bennett (Goodreads Author), Heather Boyd, Dawn Brower, Amanda Mariel, Nina Mason, Christina McKnight, Lauren Smith. I’m halfway done and loving this collection of stories.

The review of Hot Winter Nights will be up Wednesday and then I’m onto How to Find a Duke in 10 Days for Friday! Then more haunted stories after that.

What I’m Reading This Week: Shana Galen and Laura A. Barnes

stencil.blog-post-feature (2)

This week I have another ARC to read Third Son’s a Charm by Shana Galen. I will be starting it tonight so look out for the review on Wednesday! Then I am Reading Rescued By the Captain by Laura A. Barnes. She is a new to me author and this is her first book so I can’t wait. I have many favorite author books coming in the coming weeks!

In non-book related news, my birthday is Friday!

What I’m Reading This Week: Emma Locke and Diana Gabaldon Plus a Writing Update

stencil.blog-post-feature (2)

This week I am jumping back into the Outlander world by getting back to reading The Fiery Cross. I took a break from it months ago because it is very slow in the beginning and I was frustrated with it so I stepped back from it for awhile. I’m also going to be reading The Art of Ruining a Rake by Emma Locke. I have been loving her Naughty Girls series and can’t wait to see what happens in this one.

I’m also going to be reading The Art of Ruining a Rake by Emma Locke. I have been loving her Naughty Girls series and can’t wait to see what happens in this one. If you’ve been following me for awhile then you know I love series that are not the typical ballroom setting and very innocent heroines. I love this series because it’s different.

Writing Update

Now a writing update! I got some time last week to write again and the words were flowing. My hero and heroine made a decision I did not see coming and I wondered if it would work, but after lots of thinking, I decided it worked perfectly for the story. Still no clue how long it will be, but I’m excited to see what happens with it.

No Review, but an Update!

I’ve been super busy this week as my two posts (release day for two books!) yesterday showed. So I didn’t have time to read a book for review today because since I was working on things behind the scenes for different people. Since there is no review I thought I would do an update post.

Friday is a blog tour that I am super excited about! It is for Hell Hath No Fury by Annabelle Anders. She is apart of a writing group I’m in on Facebook and this is her first book and I’m thrilled to read it and be apart of the tour.

Tomorrow is the cover reveal for Christina McKnight’s Adeline and I can’t wait for it either.

You can still join my Sassy Historial Romancers group on Facebook.

What I’m Reading This Week: Christy Carlyle and Vanessa Kelly

stencil.blog-post-feature (2).jpg

I hope everyone had a great Father’s day! Ours was a quiet one with just my dad’s picking what he wanted us to make for supper (fish), a card, and gift. I didn’t get a chance to read all weekend but have some book to read this week.

Wednesday I will have a review of Christy Carlyle’s A Study in Scoundrels. I can’t wait to read this one. Friday will be an ARC review of Three Weeks with a Princess by Vanessa Kelly! I loved the first one in this series.

Tomorrow is release day for The Pleasures of Passion (Sinful Suitors #4) by Sabrina Jeffries and you can read my review by clicking that link.

What I’m Reading This Week

Wow, I don’t remember the last time I did one of these posts! I have been so busy with reviews that my regular schedule has been forgotten again, but that can be a good thing. Anyway, I have two new to me authors that I’m reading this week and have already started reading one.

First up is the one I started last it is The Merchant’s Pearl by Amie O’Brien. This one has a very different setting and a different POV than most. I am enjoying it so far and it will be Wednesday’s review.

The next one is The Firstborn by Quenby Olson for a Random Friday Review. I haven’t started it yet because I don’t like to read multiple books at once.

I’ve got a packed review schedule until the end of the month, but next Friday Jude Knight will be featured on Sassy Book Lover and I can’t wait.

Blurb

Inspired by the tale of Sleeping Beauty–an erotically charged historical romance novella from the acclaimed Fiery Tales series. One sleeping rake, one scorching kiss, one night of unforgettable passion…

Five years ago, the notorious rake, Adrien d’Aspe, Marquis de Beaulain, was awakened by a sensuous kiss–and experienced a night of raw ecstasy that was branded into his memory.

Years later, he spots his mysterious seductress–and this time, he has no intention of letting her go…

My Review

*I received a copy of Historical Hellions which includes this book from one of the authors in exchange for my honest review

Normally I don’t like ones at this spice level, but I loved this one. I loved that it was set in France, that there was a small mystery surrounding that night, and a twist at the end I did expect. There is a lot of steam in this one, but enough of a story to balance it out for me.

Catherine had her reasons for what she did five years ago and the memory of that night has stayed with her. Once she told her whole story everything made sense and I loved her.

Adrien is not shy at all about the life he lives, but he is still loveable. There is something about how he wanted answers about that night that makes you love him because it wasn’t for bad reasons.
