Widow Meriel Vyse is stunned speechless when someone tries to abduct her on her way to a ball. Fortunately, Quinn Raines, her secret beau, shows up to foil the attack. Unfortunately, as the two of them are struggling with her abductor, Meriel accidentally stabs Quinn with a knife.

Unbeknownst to Meriel, Quinn set up the fake abduction so he could play the hero and win her hand in marriage. But now that his plan has gone disastrously awry, can he convince her that he’s still the man for her?

My Review

*I received a copy from the author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I normally don’t like this quick of a read, but I loved this! When she stabbed him I knew it was going to be a good read. It’s very fast-paced but has enough about both of them so you understand them and will make you laugh at times. I loved the ending.

Meriel believes she isn’t good enough for him because of her past. I loved that she spoke her mind and when she made up her mind she followed it. I loved her in the end and what she did.

Quinn is worried about why she won’t marry him. I loved how he thought his plan would work until he saw the knife. His past was also one that he worried about. I loved when she told him everything.

My Review

This is going on my All Time Favorites list! You will go through so many emotions while reading this one from happy to anger to sadness and back to happy. I loved the twist with how he found out the truth and the connection they had right away. I really wanted something to happen to her parents because they are beyond horrible. They shocked me every time they were around. The ending was amazing and perfect! I was so excited to see how things turned out for them.

Dora is broken body and soul. I felt so connected to her because she was different. I hated seeing her torn down and she needed someone to pull from the dark. I almost screamed when she stood up to her parents and then was afraid of what would happen next.

Allon was pulled from his darkness and now he will return the favor. I loved him right away because he’s smart, a bit sneaky, and what dreams are made of. I was not expecting what he said to her parents at all. When he went in the house I cheered.

She’s determined to end her betrothal, but he must make her his at all cost.

A Scottish lass determined to end her betrothal.

As an infant, Mayra Findlay’s hand was pledged in marriage. So closely has her virtue been guarded, she’s never been permitted a beau—has never even flirted with a man. However, after a chance encounter with a dashing rogue who sets her pulse and imagination cavorting, Mayra initiates a scheme that’s sure to force her affianced to call off their union.

The laird who must make her his at all cost.

Until Logan Rutherford, Laird of Lockelieth Keep, inherited a near bankrupt estate, he had no intention of wedding the lass he was betrothed to as a wee lad. Now he needs Mayra’s remaining dowry to save his beloved Lockelieth. However, before they exchange vows, he’s determined to know just what type of woman he’s reluctantly taking to wife. So he assumes his cousin’s identity; a decision that soon has him snared in a tangled web of deceit.

Caution: This historical romance contains one rakish fiery-haired Scot accustomed to getting his own way, a lass who’s fed-up with men dictating her life, and stubborn gelding with a superior attitude.

Buy this first installment in the Heart of a Scot series for a Highland adventure you won’t want to put down.

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I was hooked from the start when it showed them as kids. I normally don’t like books where one is pretending to be someone else, but I loved this one because it didn’t drag on. When they first see each other there’s spark and I didn’t know how it was going to play out. I loved how she found out who he really was and that she had a different reaction than I expected. I loved the ending a lot!

Mayra has a very good reason for wanting to end their betrothal. She craved a bit of freedom and seemed so shy, but she really wasn’t. I loved when she started looking for a way to break the betrothal off. She understood things more than people gave her credit for.

Logan feared ending up married to a woman like his father had. I loved that his plan didn’t quite go the way he wanted. He learned things about his family and got a better understanding of her and her family. I also loved him as a child and how he acted during those events.

Can Jean-Luc be a true husband to the woman he’s been deceiving? Can Isabeau convince Jean-Luc she’s his one true love? Will these two rediscover what they had once upon a summertime?

My Review

The perfect amount of sweetness. Many sweet westerns loose their ruggedness or the sense of being a western, but this one doesn’t and I loved that! There is a lot of emotions in this one too that will pull at your heart and you will connect with them throughout the story. I loved that they weren’t your typical western couple and that they were brought back together. There was a twist with her family that I didn’t see coming. I didn’t want it to end but loved the ending because everything came out.

Isabeau was ruined by a scandal but wasn’t going to fall into a black hole and disappear. I loved that she actually could take care of herself with the upbringing she had and that she wouldn’t back down. She spoke her mind at all times and I loved that about her.

Jean-Luc was heartbroken without realizing it. My heart ached for him in the garden and how he changed after that. He was a hardened man after that and I loved how he slowly softened again. He will pull at your heart like crazy.

Don’t mess with a group of women that have a plan!

Claire Delacroix’s Something Wicked This Way Comes
Seven years ago, Sophia Brisbane lost everything—her father, her brother, her family fortune—but worse, was rejected by the man she loved. She’s determined not to yearn for the past and its pleasures—until she encounters Lucien de Roye again. Although he knew Sophia could never be his own, Lucien vowed to retrieve her squandered inheritance—even wagering his very soul to a demon. Jane Charles’s Her Gypsy Lord

However, when her family is summoned to Castle Keyvnor for the reading of her great-uncle’s will, Charlotte can hardly contain her excitement. Ghosts, magic and gypsies seem to be the ingredients to the adventure she’s been searching for. However when she meets Adam Vail in the nearby gypsy camp, it may be another adventure all together that calls to her soul…if she can survive Castle Keyvnor and one very murderous ghost.

Claudia Dain’s Lady Ghost and Lord Death: A Love Story

Unfortunately for Hal, the ghosts take an interest in him. One ghost wants to see him married to the lovely Lady Morgan. Another ghost is just as determined to see him slip the noose. As the ghosts work their supernatural magic, Hal can’t determine if the intense attraction he feels for Morgan is coming from him or from them. And after a few magical kisses, he’s not sure he cares.

This one is very different. I wasn’t really into the selling his soul thing, but it made sense as it went on. I loved how they ran into each other again and both were shocked to see each other. I did love the ending and how everything wrapped up perfectly with one person getting what they deserved.

Sophia has been doing what she must to keep going and be hidden. I liked her because she spoke her mind and was quick to make a plan. Her backstory will make you understand her a lot.

Lucien’s heart was in the right place when he made that wager. I was afraid that it really changed into a different person, but the real him kept coming through. I did like that he had planned everything out.

Love the details in this one! The ghost in this one is one of the most terrifying out of all of them. I loved how his grandmother’s was in everything and working her own magic. Her brothers can make you laugh with how protective they are and how they act about things. I loved the wedding and the stuff with his grandfather.

Charlotte definitely loves adventure and wants proof before she will believe. I loved how determined she was when she wanted to do something and that she followed her heart. She was good at shocking her brothers.

Adam is one of a kind because he is in between two very different worlds with his family. I loved him from the start because of how he doesn’t look down on anyone. He is the perfect match for her.

Claudia Dain’s Lady Ghost and Lord Death: A Love Story

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

I loved how different this one was because the ghosts were a big part of the story. They instantly had something between them and just needed a bit of help. There are two stories going on that affect each other and it plays out perfectly for everyone. The ending was amazing and I didn’t want it to end.

Morgan is a girl that does not believe in anything that she has been told about the castle. I loved her personality and that she wasn’t fazed by everything in the castle even though it affected her. She did jump to a conclusion at one point but realized she shouldn’t have.

Hal didn’t know what the ghost had in store for him. I loved that he was more open than he thought and how much he cared about his horse and dog. He was nothing like his nickname, but it could creep you out at first.

Sarai was led to believe that the whole world could exchange their beliefs for hers. But when her parents are murdered, she quickly learns that the world never stops for just one person. The world takes, forgets, and swiftly moves on.

By 1875, she isn’t even Sarai anymore. She had spent her teenage years repackaged as Leila, a palace concubine-in-waiting for the overly indulgent, Ottoman Sultan, Abdul’Aziz. Leila does her best to stay out of the eye of ‘Aziz as well as his son, Prince Emre. But when young and thoughtful Emre claims Leila for his own harem, she is forced out of her shell and thrown into a ring of competitive women. Here, she cannot hide from the attention her young master wishes to lavish upon her. Nor can she can avoid the ruthless retaliations of his prior favorite, Aster. But it’s the unexpected gift of sexual sanctuary and an inside look into his family’s struggles that really collides with Leila’s upbringing. Soon, despite her better judgment, she finds her heart becoming increasingly tied to him.

But can she submit her faith and independent spirit to such a future—a future where to be loved means settling for the fact that she can only ever be his favorite? Will she be able to take turns sharing him among the four beautiful girls he had received before her, one being a jealous rival and another a closest friend? And what will happen to their love if Emre’s father can’t hold together his fragile kingdom, an empire that has grave threats encroaching from every side…including within?

My Review

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This is very different from what I usually read and I really liked it! I loved the different setting, culture, and POV that is in this book. It’s not your typical romance and there is a lot more going on then their story. There is a journey for both of them in finding themselves and their way in everything. It’s a book that you want to take your time and read. The ending was good and it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it does stand alone.

Leila is very interesting and different. She doesn’t belong there, but her heart says otherwise. I loved the internal fight she had while trying to find her place and herself. She will pull at your heart and have you cheering her on.

Prince Emre is not like his family. He was very different and needed to find his true self too. I loved how understood things and tried to keep the peace between everyone. He will have your attention from the start and you will love him in the end.

My Review

*I received a copy via the author in exchange for my honest review.

Just like book one I was hooked.  I love that the stories of all the girls continue and I knew Georgina’s was going to pull at my heart and it did. I wasn’t expecting her father and stepmother to be the way they were and it explained Georgina a lot. I loved the archery tournament in this one and the ending.

Georgina is a sweet and caring girl that comes off as spoiled at times but has her reasons. Every time she was with her father pulled at my heart and kept hoping she would get what she wanted. Once she let it all out she was a bit different in a good way.

Felton is very much like Georgina in wanting to prove something, but for different reasons. He is always there when she needs him even if it doesn’t seem like it. Once he knew what he wanted he set out for it.

I had hoped to see her stepmother change but was happy with what happened in the end.

Though the clan Bowie’s reputation as murderers and thieves precedes them, she believes life with Alec more palatable than living the rest of her life untouched, unmarried, and under the hateful rule of her spiteful father.

Will Alec be able to stick to his original plan of getting his wife with child then leaving her be?

Will Leona finally find the happy home she has always desired?

Will either of them live long enough to realize either of their dreams? Or will the person set on murdering Leona succeed?

My Review

*I was given a copy via the author in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing! This book has so much mystery and passion that I couldn’t put it down. There was an instant connection between Alec and Leona, but both had secrets and pasts that kept them from showing their true feelings.  I knew they would need to let go of everything and something big to happen for them both to put the walls down. The mystery of who was set on killing Leona was so good! I had a couple of suspicions of who it was and was so wrong. Who it was and the reason was so shocking that I dropped my phone in surprise while reading. The ending was perfect as was the whole book.

Leona is a shy, but strong woman. She is not one that you want to mess with because she can be loud and you take what she says seriously. I loved her from the start and how she was with everyone human or animal. My heart broke for when talked about her past and everything that happened during the book.

Alec wants to protect his heart, but he lost it before he knew it. I loved how he kept trying to convince himself of things and how he slowly changed. He came off as a huge tough guy that believed it was his way or no way, but he was different in many ways. My heart broke for him too near the end because of everything happening.

I loved so many characters even Derrick when the truth was told and Satan/Patches. This is must read that you can’t miss out on.

Two favorite, related novellas from the Half Moon House series, now available together!

An Unexpected Encounter

Tall, practical girls might not be worth much in man’s world, but Miss Lisbeth Moreton knows she’s worth more than the squire’s prized heifer.

To change her fate, she’s run off to a date with destiny at the British Museum. Her would-be swain never shows, but an unexpected encounter with Lord Cotwell and his lonely ward might lead to altogether new prospects . . . and perhaps to love.

A Waltz in the Park

James Vickers once believed honor and family duty to be his life’s work. Now he knows better–and he’s appointed himself as silent witness to his father’s sins. His greatest goal is to act as the continuously pricking thorn in his lordship’s side–and scandal is his greatest weapon. He has no use for an innocent young miss.

Propriety is Miss Adelaide Stockton’s most important asset. She must be all that is prim and proper if she’s to live down her parent’s misdeeds and have any hope of catching a husband. She must avoid scoundrels like Vickers at all costs.

Yet fate has thrown them together–and given each a key to the other’s ambition. A bargain is struck…but together they find that gaining what one desires most is far more difficult than a waltz in the park.

Encounters with a Rogue

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I love that there are available together because they really do connect and I think need to be read together so you get a full understanding of some things. I loved both and how they go with the whole series.

An Unexpected Encounter

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Spice Level: 💋💋💋

I was in love with this one from the start! When Hestia gets involved I’m never sure how things are going to happen, but know it will have some twists and a great ending. I loved how Aurelia was so quick to make up a story at first and everything that involved her. I wasn’t expecting the small twist with Lisbeth’s trustee or everything with James Vickers. One of my favorite parts involved little girls following on Lord Cotwell’s his heels.

Lisbeth is a very brave and strong woman that didn’t fully panic when her plans fell through. She had a very good reason to run from her family and a way of understanding people. I loved how she was with Aurelia and when she took over the household.

Lord Cotwell is a very smart man and honorable. He is my favorite kind of hero because he of things he does in his lab and that he didn’t blink an eye at taking Aurelia and would do anything for her. I loved how quick he was to defend people he cared about and how he came out of his shell.

A Waltz in the Park

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Spice Level: 💋💋

I love that this one continues with James. This one has a mystery that involves people in their lives that you will not realize what it is until you get to the end. They started out just helping each other for different reasons and then slowly put down the walls. Hestia, of course, was involved in it and I loved the story about Adelaide’s parents and the scandal. The ending is my favorite out of all the books I have read.

Adelaide is definitely a girl with a plan. Everyone thinks her the prim and proper girl, but she has a sassy side and loves adventure. I loved her right away because she didn’t skirt around questions and knew how to read people. She was smart and at times forward in a good way.

James has changed a lot, but still makes it his mission to drive his father crazy. I knew there was a reason for why he did this stuff, but in no way expecting the reason. His reason made complete sense and showed the real him. I loved how he could see people for what they were and how he was with his mother.

When Lettie and Daniel are reunited, their connection burns as bright as it once did. But neither of them are the same people they were in their youth—they must trust one another to heal the wounds of their past to find a love that lasts forever.

My Review

*I was provided a copy by the author in exchange for my honest review

This is much more than just a romance its about two people that have suffered heartbreak, loss and need to heal and find each other. Both have been on downward spirals at different times and needed to grow and find each other again. I loved everything because of the raw emotion and how they both had horrible witnessed things that made them grow and change. They needed each other because they understood each other.

Lettie is a strong woman that is stronger than she thinks after what she has seen and done. She saved soldiers lives and saw more death than anyone in London can understand so they push her to be like them again. I kept cheering her on hoping she would find peace soon.

Danial was on his way to ruin when he witnessed a horrible thing that turned him sober. He changed in many ways but still had hints of the man she knew. It was easy to understand why he had acted the way he did before she left, but no one realized why or understood.

This one is high on my favorite list and a must read.
